VP versus SLOTS

Hey, Brian can I hire you for constant explains? What's ur opine on
The Historical Jesus of Vegas aka John Scarne? U deserve a full
named... Crazy Don-

I understand the thread. I was simply making a counterpoint to MKS
who implied that paytables can't easily be changed by casino techs.

As far as fake chips go, I think it's safe to assume that a
civilisation capable of reaching Mars can figure out how to fake a
chip.

The issue is not "Can they?", but rather "Do they?".

Today's cheating chips should be much more sophisticated that the
early ones a la American Coin Co. If I wanted to program one, I
wouldn't be so obvious as to never give a jackpot. Simply take away
every second RF, and the machine hold goes up an average of 1%.

Better yet, why not rate the skill of the player as the tutor
programs do - if he/she is obviously unskilled, invite them back by
providing lots of small winners. If highly skilled, punish them -
here's the solution to those scumbag advantage players!

Having said this, I play regularly - but only in certain
jurisdictions. As a recreational player, I also use a stop-loss
technique - if I'm losing, I leave. Don't care if you want to call

it

variance, poor luck, bad karma, or whatever - just get the hell

outta

there, and try another day or another casino.

I didn't mean to appear to be questioning you or the truthfulness of your assertion. I assume that it is true; I was just mentioning how I thought it could be done more easily and effectively.

By the way, I've served for over 20 years -- over 7 on active duty and the balance in a combination of Reserves and National Guard. Never been out of the country, though, so I've never had a chance to see those type of set-ups.

I'm leaving tomorrow for 2-days in Tunica. Hopefully Hollywood has finally installed their Multi-Strike ... which they've been telling me for about 4- or 5-months has been 'ordered' ... although their web-site seems to indicate that it hasn't come in yet ... and I plan to try out my OEJ strategy at the Grand. That has been a real "bear" for me, but I think I finally have it down pretty good. Some folks have asked me about its development/progress, but I don't want to release anything that contains any errors. Without a tutorial such as WinPoker or FrugalVP to check against it (OEJ is not available on those programs), I've had to do an awful lot of double-checking myself. I'm also very paranoid that I will release my strategy only to discover later that I've made an error. Unfortunately, whether I do well or not at Tunica will not verify the accuracy of my strategy.

Cheers.

their chances of getting caught are pretty much non-existant if there
is no gaming regulation, and they can always lose the evidence, worse
case they can blame some fall guy

last year, there was a case at a major corporate casino in
mississippi, a player hit a big progressive, but the meter didn't
reset and the casino claimed machine fault and refused to pay, the
player complained to the gaming control board, they requested the
casino hand over the evidence, the casino said, oops!, we somehow
made a big mistake and reset the machine in question, somehow can't
find the machine motherboard, and somehow erased all the surveilance
tapes, the board said it is the casino's responsibility to hold all
evidence, judgement for the player, plus penalty to encourage the
casino to make less mistakes next time

snip

One of he best protections for players would be if the national press would publicize all significant cases such as this. "Casino XYZ" tried to without payment of a jackpot, but the 'such and such' gaming commission ruled against them, etc. A few articles like that and I think that the casinos would start to be a bit more cautious in withholding payments. Another thing that would help would be state laws that require casinos to pay double when they've withheld payment without justification.

Cheers.
