(to vpbill) AAM at Harrah's St. Louis

Bill,
My father and I did quite well with .25 AAM back when it was
still full pay at Harrah's STL in 2002. The straight and royal
flushes came with reasonable frequency over our roughly two years of
playing there. Unfortunately it seems that many others were aware of
this opportunity and the new management at Harrah's took all the full
pay AAM's out when 2003 rolled around.
I'm still mystified as to why full-pay AAM is at KC Harrah's
(about 20 machines or so) while St. Louis took them all out. Can
anyone explain this phenomenon? This is especially striking since $1
full-pay AAM can still be easily played at Harrah's KC. The
President's AAM machines are too crowded so it's usually either
Boonville or KC's Harrah's or Isle of Capri for papa and I these days.
Also, I had much better luck (the lovelier face of variance) when AAM
was full-pay at Harrah's STL.
Have you checked out Jumer's in Rock Island, IL? They have
25-cent 10/7 DB with a penny cashback for every DOLLAR played! I
think you get DOUBLE cashback on Mondays and on some extra day if
you're a senior citizen like my dad. So, yes, on some days it's
really paying out 102.17% if you can nail your jackpot hands often
enough.

Harrahs STL pulled the last AA on 9/12/03. A friend of mine was
playing it when the suits literally kicked him off it. They made him
cash out and then shut the machine down. No, they wouldn't let him
finish out his session once they found this rogue AA machine. Typical
Harrahs.

The UnAmerican Gamemakes sit practically empty now. ~20 new machines
in a casino that has a warm body at almost every game in the place on
busy Friday/Saturday nights. What a beautiful thing

Different slot director at KC.

The
President's AAM machines are too crowded

Since the President eliminatated multipoint days and installed 6 new
Gamemakers, it's never a problem getting a seat now.

I do very well on Bonus Deuces Wild at Harrah's in St. Louis, and on the progressive at Ameristar. There is also the same game at the Casino Queen. The reason is that five of a kind pays so well that it holds you until you can hit one of the higher jackpots.
I do not understand why this game is never discussed on this forum.
Am I missing something?
A while ago when I was just beginning, I posted something on this forum and some nice people wrote me back. Then Yahoo kicked me off (the nerve of them), and I could never get into my email to retrieve the people who did respond to me. Now hopefully I have a full proof email address. So if you email me back, I will respond.

Hi Judy:

I am sure I just beat hockeystl to the punch, but this is a horrible
game if the numbers you gave are correct. the expected return is only
96.2%, I believe Ameristar has this game with a 98.8% ER at quarters
and even some progressive's at the top end to make it better. I dont
play $0.25 so I cant be sure, but I do play this at the $1 level at
Ameristar quite a bit when the progressives get decent, the base game
is: STRFL 65, 4kind 20, FH 15, FL 15. You might want to check out
Ameristar at the qrtr level if you like this game, Harrahs is trying
to take advantage of you for sure. Also for the qrtr player Ameristar
has 3 loose dueces machines with a 99.2% return (not great, but better
than some) the game has a high volitility, but if you cant get better
than 99.2 and you are playing something else you may consider it.

After reading this msg, I think I sound like a ad for Ameristar, but I
really think they need to work on there games quite a bit, like I have
been talking to them about. I am just trying to help everyone at any
level of play. I am truely frustrated at the quality of games
available in STL for the $1 player and hope things improve. Maybe the
2 new casinos that are going to open in the next few years will help.
I hope I dont have to totally quit playing, or start schedualling
trips to KC on a regular basis.

Until about 6 months ago, Ameristar had the full pay version of this
game at the $1 level, and it was even advertised on the glass of the
machines. All were slanttops.

You can still see these machines on the floor. Back towards the high
limit room on the first level. You'll see a black strip on the glass
where they were forced to black out the term "Returns over 100%
payback with optimium play." Someone must have called MO Gaming and
reported Ameristar's false advertising after they lowered the
paytable.
