New BConnected

I played at the Gold Coast today and got some more information.

1. The fact that it takes $2 coin-in on video poker to earn one
BConnected point is now in writing. The employees have a little card
that's a cheat sheet for how points and tier credits are earned. One
of the club attendants gave me one of these. It specifically says " $2
of coin-in Poker and Multi-Games = 1 Base B Connected Point". I played
several different banks of video poker today and all were $2 per
point.

2. Almost all the NSUD I played was 100 points ($200 coin-in) = one
tier credit. All the 8/5 BP was 100 points ($200 coin-in) = three tier
credits. Apparently they can discern which game is being played
because I got that tier credit rate for 8/5 BP on the same machines
where I got the different rate when playing NSUD.

3. Card Level Gold Coast buffet discounts per buffet cashier - Ruby
$1, Sapphire and Emerald $3, Onyx and Titanium $5. Buffets at other
casinos may be different.

4. Like someone else who posted here, I also got bonus BConnected
points today. While playing I earned about 1000 points in total for
about $2000 coin-in. After I was done my point balance went up just
over 2000 points instead of the 1000 points the card reader indicated
I had earned today so I got a bonus of about 1000 points.

Thanks to everyone here who has contributed information. It's very helpful.

I was afraid titanium level would be unobtainable but it’s only $40,000,000 coin in a year.

It seems odd to me that they are able to see your game on a multi-game machine but only use that information to determine your tier credits rather than your points. Do tier credits really affect their bottom line as much as points do (in the form of slot dollars)?

Thank you so much for the detailed info Oblah Dah. I’m impressed that the new player system can discern the theo between games given how old the units themselves are at Gold Coast. Decent status for those playing 99%+ VP is now clearly a thing of the past without future rule adjustments. A real shame. Hopefully your mailers won’t change with the smarter system…but yeah, it’s gonna.

Does anyone want to test the 10/7 games at MSS or the FPDW at Sam’s Town and see if they accrue negative Tier Credits…? :frowning:

Does anyone know how your tier points translate in the new system. I was there today and my tier points prior to this mess were around 270,000 (making me emerald) To qualify now for emerald you need at least 15,000 tier points. When I checked my tier points later in the day it was 1648 under the new system-which means I am losing emerald status .

I can’t believe 270,000 tier points translate into only 1648 points. At this rate earning enough tier points with video poker it will be years before I get back to emerald. ( as I line on the East Coast and fly in four times a year. ) It seems Boyd is punishing the video poker players.

I believe tier points reset to zero every January 1st so time isn't going to help you reachieve Emerald level.

BTW Boyd September mailer says Young at Heart multiplier will be an unlimited 11X points at all properties, including Downtown.

There is discussion here about specific games and having players track their play to determine tier credits earnings. Do we know if they use only the game to determine this? Perhaps it depends also on particular player factors - how often they play, their daily average, and the hundreds of other pieces of information they have on each of us. Perhaps BIG DATA analytics is the determining judge - so not all of us playing the same game will have the same rate to earn tier credits??? Do we know???

Am I being paranoid?

Of course I am!!!

Not sure I understand

If I work all year to achieve emerald - say I get my 15,000 by December as I am not a local then I lose all my tier points in January and have to start over and lose my emerald status? How long are you Allowed to keep emerald status once achieved.

Lots of unanswered questions here

Jan 1st, you would start at zero, for qualification for the next year, but you have your Emerald status for all the year, so your fine for 2019.

I’ll play the bad guy here. Apparently none of you ever went through a data management transition in your work life and have no idea how data gets translated from a legacy system to a new one and the changes that may occur along the way. My Tier Credits this week have gone from (I have no idea) to 48000+ (which I was sure was incorrect), to 0 (which I hoped was incorrect) to 819 (who knows what that equates to?). Before we all get our panties in a wad I think we should let the “system” get itself grounded and then see what difference, if any, it really makes. Peace y’all.

From the reports I have been reading today, it appears Boyd is trying to get 50c of theo per tier point.

So that 90% slots is the published 0.50 / (1-90%) = $5 per tier point.

99.17% BP = 0.50 / (1-99.17%) = $60 coin in per tier point
99.54% jacks = 0.50 / (1-99.54%) = $109 coin in per tier point
99.73% NSUD = 0.50 / (1-99.73%) = $185 coin in per tier point

I got just less than 1% of the tier points I made in 2018 (or 1% of my coin in), so this could be close. I am sure there will be some reports with more accurate calculations.

To figure out if they are calculating theo based on how players play, an academic experiment would be to put $2 into a VP game hoping to be dealt a crappy hand, where a redraw would be worth about 60c, and a hold all would be worth 0. And then hold all. If given a full tier credit for this, than at a cost of $2, we learn they are running the theo based on our play. I know, it isn’t worth $2, we already know we are getting a horrible deal.

Another question is if the multipliers will apply to tier points or only to the “BConned” points.

I just sent a short summary of my opinion about the changes to Boyd. I used the “Contact Us” option available in my online B-Connected account.

“Wow your reductions in the new B-Connected benefits are HUGE. STN is my new casino home.”

I received an immediate robotic response email indicating that my message was received. I wonder if it will be understood???

G’luck all,

The problem with this calculation is it assumes perfect play which does not happen in real life. BP has a 99.17 payback vs perfect play but in real life most players give up around 2%. By that measure a tier point should be $25 coin in, not $60. Expert VP players should not be the standard by which Boyd sets its countdowns. Typical customers (casual players) are getting seriously screwed. The bad countdowns leave VP players stuck in Ruby "no point" purgatory way longer than they should be costing them hundreds of dollars in points and comps.

99.17% BP = 0.50 / (1-99.17%) = $60 coin in per tier point
99.54% jacks = 0.50 / (1-99.54%) = $109 coin in per tier point
99.73% NSUD = 0.50 / (1-99.73%) = $185 coin in per tier point

E-mail me privately, please, at shamilton55@yahoo.com. It has been 8 years since I was last in Vegas (long, very sad story) but I used to trade with you all the time and have since lost all contacts. Sorry if this is an inappropriate post, I didn't know where else to put it

Ok because you won I made a special trip after dinner. You have until “close of business Friday” to get 50$ in free play. Lucky you as I saw this morning and was already noted Suncoast only paid 25$.

CONGRATULATIONS. You may be the only next person happy with new BConnected!!!
