I need LV Hilton promotion info

Just amazes me how casinos can track every $ in & out of machines we play, but they can't fix a simple error.

As one knows, it is all in the "software". It never ceases to amaze
me how inflexible so much commercial software is these days. You
pay the "big bucks", but the system you buy has almost no
flexibility.

Too many people use the excuse "it is all the computer's fault",
when we all know that the software is writtten by human beings who
can make the computer do anything that needs to be done.

I am not pardoning the casinos. They should know what they are
buying and scream loudly, if they cannot do with the software what
they want/need to do.

But, let us all be aware of where the problems really are.

Exactly, we all know those computers operate only with info we humans put into them. So this screw up was initiated by a human somewhere along the line. You would think a human out there somewhere might be able to fix it.

Sometimes, not often, we ask for machines to be reserved for half hour
or so while we grab a bite to eat (Harrah's). It is a perk for
obtaining Diamond status, i.e., loosing a lot of money. While in
Harrah's KC yesterday (10x point day) there was a couple playing $ AA
and the lady said she was going back to their room to watch TV for a
while. She requested her machine be taken out of service and when the
slot tech came to honor the request we heard him tell someone on the
other end of his radio the lady was a "seven star" player. Does
anyone know what this means? Is this "status" within a "status"?

Rick (confused in the Midwest)

Yes! Yes! Yes! I cannot agree more!

A human being SHOULD be able to fix any software problem. But, just
think back to the "Y2K" debaucle of just a few years ago. Too much
commercial software is (and has been) written by incompetents.

Good software can be written, but, so often, one goes with the "low
bidder". You only get what you pay for. And, in the end, the
comsumer gets screwed (in the end...<sigh>).

A Harrah's Seven Star player is one who has attained 10 times the amount of base credits needed to be a Diamond Player. 100,000. base credits. Tom & I are Diamond, I have 15,000. so far this year & he has about 10,000. So those 7 star players are putting thru tons more coin than we do, and we put thru plenty.

My experience shows that low or high bidder can produce bad results.
What counts is vendors rep. How long in business, do others like
their work and have they been good with support to folks they have
already sold.

Liz,

Thanks for the reply. Seven star is definitely out of our league.

Not one that I can see. Moot point as there is no way I would attain that level ever.

AP,
I think Jean may have been saying that she saw very little value in
the program period, not just bashing Harrah's. Agreed most
folks "educated" in gambling realize some of Harrah's flaws such as,
most importantly to this group, poor VP. However, some of us do
acknowledge the things Harrah's does right like easy to score rooms,
flights, meals, etc that would require a lot more play at a group
such as Mandalay.
I was ceremoniously awarded my Seven Star card at Harrah's AC back
in July. (they brought it to me on the floor and made a big
production of it). I can advise that there is little to no value to
the card. It does make an excellent line pass though!

My comment wasn't referring to whether Harrah's was a good place to play or not, but whether the new top tier had any added benefits for ANY player, skilled or purely recreational and unskilled. So far I have found no one who achieved that tier who has gotten any extra benefits, except perhaps the initial party they were invited to which included a nice gift. Seems like it is a marketing tool merely to make heavy players feel good - but even an unskilled player will be able to see through that and feel "insulted" (or at least totally unimpressed), if there are no concrete added benefits.

Well, let me say congrats & I'm amazed! I do like Harrah's for the room offers, trips, etc...but vp pickens are very slim, at least in Atlantic City where we do most of our play. I know I'll never get to 100,000 credits there in a year & you did it in just over 6 months! I am duly impressed & you are a major high roller!

Liz

From what I understand being a 7 star at Harrahs does have some nice
benifits. 1) cash all coupons you have on any day even blackout and
before/after thier printed dates. 2) If you choose you can go to the
front of any line anytime (may cause other problems) 3) $400 birthday
dinner for 4 at thier casino restaurant of your choice. 5) trip for 2
each year to any harrahs property, including airfare. 6) quarterly
logo gift. (this qrtr a nice windbreaker/weatherproof jacket. I
believe there are several other benifits also, but most people who
qualify for this ($1,000,000 coin in at VP) are treated very well by
any casino. IMO harrahs needed something above diamond and/or raised
the qualification for it since it is pretty easy to get.

In this case I believe the lady (couple) were advantage players. They

Speaking of advantage players, we have observed a young couple -- mid
thirties -- playing $ AA at Harrah's many times at all hours of the
day. We nicknamed her All American Annie. Either they have jobs with
very strange hours or this IS their job. They play very fast and very
accurately. I suspect they are getting close to the 7 * status if not
there already.

Liz,
I just checked online and my base RC is 59,876. I do not have
100,000 base RC. My play is approximately 80% tables and 20% VP.
My wife plays VP 100% of the time under my card. This card had to
have been driven by my average bet and length of time at the BJ
tables (averaging $300 hand for 8 hours or so per day). I am sure
that our $.25 VP play at Harrahs, Rio and Showboat did not qualify
us for this level. Of course based upon the 100,000 base RC I am
only 60% of the way to qualifying so I am not sure why I got the
card! I did get most of my points in the last 6 months or so. Maybe
they are projecting future play and this is an incentive?

Could certainly be. $300.00 hand BJ for 8 hours a day is definately a good reason. LOL Tom & I are exclusively vp players between $.25 & $1.00, sometimes after a hit, we get brave & play some $5.00.
We have learned it would be better for us to put all of our play on one card though, since only one of us gets the offers anyway, may as well get better ones. So, that's what we are going to do from now on. We've already attained diamond for next year, so we've decided to play the rest of the year on my card.
Good luck & win big!

anyone in Missouri may want to be careful about having the wrong card
in, I have been told firsthand, (but did not see this) that a couple
had been playing at the same machine, his card was in, he got up to go
to the restroom and she hit a taxable, it took them something like 2-4
hours to get thier money because the wrong card was in the machine,
they did finally get the money. It has to do with MO having the $500
buy in every two hours (pain in the butt, and useless against problem
gambling) and they dont want people using other peoples cards.
