Hollywood-STL

I've been to this property a couple of times on weekdays. It looks like it was enough of a challenge to convert the existing machines over to Penn National's software, let alone start downgrading paytables on VP and/or moving machines around. They did eliminate the nonsmoking area over where the upright VP machines are across from the poker room. There are a couple of kiosks to the right of where you sign up for a Hollywood card that are issuing point multipliers. However no one at the players club can answer questions regarding how many points are worth how much in cash back or merchandise. All they can tell you is that your Harrah's balance carried over to them (and I'm sure that was figured in the final sale price-it was no "freebie" that Hollywood gave away), and that to access your Harrah's account, you're going to have to make a trip out of town to collect on that, which I'll do early next year on a trip to LAS. When life outside of VP settles down for me, I'll try to figure out what CB and other benefits this place has. As a final comment, Hollywood hasn't exactly showered their new STL customer base with coupons/freeplay/meal comps that at least Harrah's tried to do. The place looked even more underutilized than when Harrah's was in "lame duck" status here.

All,

Just a quick "Hi!" as I just joined this forum. Over the following two weeks (and many times next year) I will be at the Hollywood STL frequently and will be (attempting) updating the entries for new/moved/removed/downgraded/broken/shot machines as I can  I'd like to clarify the location entries, as I found them to be fairly broad when originally trying to locate certain machines. Also will be attempting to get a handle on the comp/cash-back story. I did get a fairly favorable conversion from Harrahs to Hollywood points, but like many have asked several employees about the rest of the Marquee program but gotten few answers. I believe (as some have mentioned here and on FB) that alot of the unknowns are due to the changeover and growing pains.

I did find that there were a few Marquee Rewards kiosks where you can swipe your card and get the current total points you have (instead of having to ask at the desk) - the VP machines only tell you how many you've earned at that session.

I had been emailing PNG about the Tier point conversion in the past and just sent an email to see if I can get additional information on the new non-smoking area(s).

Please continue to comment here and on the vpfree2 site for the Hollywood STL.

Best of Luck!

Hi Zen: We've been playing almost exclusivly at Ameristar for a few years now, but I have some questions about returning to Players & Harrah's / Hollywood. We play vpoker on the Nickols, except usually up to 45 per draw and dollar slots usually progressive ones. Are there any good plays at the new Hollywood? Any good progressive $1 slots or any demoniations. Any good vpoker plays.

Hi,

I've passed the Ameristar many times (usually on the way to Llewellyn's or Trailhead in Old St. Charles) but never played there. I started and stayed playing at Harrah's primarily for the Triple Bonus Plus machines at 99.8%, or when those two (not one as the site says - change number 1!) were busy either SDDB or BDW. I've only just started checking out the Progressives there, but as yet haven't found any I'd want to play. An Ace$ Bonus 25¢ set looked intriguing first week in Nov. with meters on the royal ($1016), Ace$ ($1501), all quads and straight flush, but even at those pays the machine didn't make 98%.

I will be checking out any other vp single/progressives that may have appeared at the Hollywood next week and will update the site with any new info. I'm unfamiliar with the regular video slots there, though I know they are bringing in new ones. If I see any that look interesting I'll let you know...

I will certainly let all know of any significant vp changes!

Hi,

I don't know how "good" the progressive was, but a woman just hit the Triple Stars 25cent progressive slots at the Hollywood for $42,465!

All,

I've updated most of the VP machine/games on the vpfree2 site,
clarifying the locations, adding the bank of 8 machines right of the
Cashier Center, and (re)adding the 8 multi-game slant tops (by the red
wall) with a limited (.25 & .50) coin for the best pay tables. Will
check out the high-limit area again on Monday - I don't believe the $5,
$10, $25 99.17% BP machines were there but will verify.

Had a conversation with an employee about the non-smoking area. It was
removed as they upgraded the Charlie Gitto (Island) side, and there are
plans to re-establish a larger area there. It was also mentioned that
there was the possibility of making the entire side non-smoking as has
been done in another property. No other details as to when.

Collected data last week and will continue next week to attempt to
determine what the Reward Point to Comp $ rate is. Questioned the
Marquee desk but didn't get any definitive data.

Any additional information or corrections please let me know - Thanks!
