Dancer strikes again!

Last week I was my local casino (Spirit Mountain, in OR). They had a bank of VP corded off and were resetting them. I looked at the screens, and was surprised at what I saw. On the screen listed 6 different payout percentages. I always thought they just changed the payout, but instead, they change it by percentage. So yes, they certainly know.

As an aside, they changed the one and only 9/6 .25 JOB to 9/5, which now matches the rest of the inventory in the casino. We do have some 9/6 DDB still left also.

Are you really so ill informed to think that the casino doesn't know the paybacks of every one of its machines down to the millionth of a percent?
Do you think the abscence of multi-play 100% games is mere coincidence?

I do not know personally, but a fellow I know says he was shown the theoretical ERs by a tech. It is also alleged that the effective ER is also shown.

A number is available. It may or may not be a good number.

vp-connoisseur
you have a machine. What say you?

I was playing at the EW in Laughlin last month, on the over 100% quarter machines, when they were resetting them to kick out a ticket if the credits went over $400 (really) and the machine next to me was open to the set up screen for a few minutes (the tech was having problems) and there was a list of games with the theoretical payback in parentheses next to the games name [e.g. Deuces Wild (100.8%)]. The techs definitely know, because it's right there on the screen, and their bosses know also, since they tell them what to set the payback at. These are fairly new machines, I don't know about the older models, Pat

All the Game Kings show the theo for each game. Since the actual win % is a moving target it only shows on the audit screens, but doesn't provide very significant information since it is for only that machine.
Nevada now requires tracking software to read each meter in a machine and many, but not all, casinos have versions with this capability. The operators therefore have the ability to track the results of each game across the floor. However, this does not mean that they do so. In fact, until you start getting into the millions of hands played the actual results are fairly meaningless. And you also need a very good grasp of the nature of the games, psychological and mathematical to interpret these results properly. Very few casino executives have this knowledge and those that do are often overruled by their superiors.
Look at how many players have been cut off from benefits based on their actual results, especially having more royals than expected. Many, even most, senior executives believe that getting too many royals is indicative of an advantage player even though the truth is the exact opposite!
Video poker drives many of the foolish moves that managements make but the reason business is down so badly is that many locals no longer go out for a casual evening of slots because their money goes further at a movie or dinner or something. It didn't used to be that way and is, to a large degree, the unintended consequences of bill acceptors and TITO.
Many of these companies perform advanced analytics on fundamental data they neither gather properly nor fully understand. We see the results in the significant declines in business.

Not sure what you mean, but all supporting comments so far indicate that theoretical ER and actual ER performance are available on the machines
