someone asked me a question about comps, so I thought I would post the
answer here for any others that were interested.
As far as Ameristar comps go, here it is.
You get a point for every $16 you put thru the machine (but no
fractional points, they are lost)
100 points will get you $5 in comp (0.3%) anywhere in the casino or
125 points will get you $5 in cash (0.25%)
If you play quite a bit, you can get discretionary comps, I have no
idea the formula, but it is possible to get quite a bit with lots of play.
In comparison, Harrahs has separate cash back and comps, you don't
have a choice on how to use them and their rates as best I can figure
are 0.1% cash back (in a mail offer) and 0.1% comp (your reward
credits. Very rarely can you get a `discretionary' comp as far as I know.
also at ameristar if there is a double or triple points day it doubles
/triples everything (since you have only 1 point bucket) but at
harrahs on double point days you only double you reward credits not
your cash back, so it is worth exactly 0.1% in comp only.
