Bob and Frank's new Progressives

So I'm on my way to swipe for multiplier and play at the M. Figure somebody has to pump those meters up. If anyone makes any comments about my new job as a ploppy, you'll lose the service.

If I'm lucky, I won't hit it.

Just remember to thank me later.

~FK

Couldn't you say that all slot players are ploppies? When I see all those people on slot machines, I just shake my head?

Not knowledgeable, no. But when they get raped by those machines, especially at the $5 a spin level they will be knowledgeable enough to stay away. Huge variance is one thing. Coupled with a barely 96% game I have to wonder if there will be a steady supply of suckers to prop up those meters.
Quarters?--maybe.
Dollars?- I don't think so.
I hope I am proven wrong. Again, I appreciate Frank and "Bob" coming up with this innovation and I hope it works.
Nothing ventured
Nothing gained.

The point is, TDB has ridiculously high variance. Also he never
said specifically full pay TDB.

This is in response to your statement: "With horrible variance no one
knowledgeable will play these games at 97%....or 98% or 99% for that
matter."

You were replying to a discussion about ploppies not playing the new
progressives at the M. First off, do you consider ploppies knowledgeable?

M Trip Report

I swiped and got triple points.

I played about .4 of a Royal Cycle and pumped the meter about $80.

I got back over half my loss in point value, and I left the meter at $2,400 and change.

With points & MR factored in my edge was approximately 100.84%.

Good luck all,

No, some of the best wins in the history of casinos have been progressive slots. The Geni was one example of a monster money generator.

The games are not 96% return, if you play when the Royal is high. If you don't want low return just play the highest meter--there will always be one.

A lot of people seem to be discounting the Royal from the return of the game. What is this new math? The RF is included in every other machine return you have ever heard or quoted. Why should it not be included here?

Also, everyone is leaving out the amount the Jackpot goes up while you play. This is at least .5% on the game you are playing.

From the casino's POV these games are 100.56% return with perfect play, easily the best game in the M, and certainly the fastest progressive in town.

I am sorry, I missed all this. What is a Ploppy?

Believe it or not, they are having a good time playing those slots. Hopefully the casino will make enough money off them to keep the positive VP machines around.

I am one of those that you are shaking your head at.
I play slots at times, and enjoy them. I find them mindless and have spent my time, thinking of projects that need to be done, childhood memories, and of loved ones that have passed. So, shake your head all you want, I am having a nice time watching the chicken chase the egg or whatever is on the screen.
Oh, Yeah, I must be a ploppy, I plopped my butt down and hit a $13K Royal last Jan.

I have some activities where I let my mind drift in the same manner. One is jogging. The other is weight lifting.

When I enter a casino, I'm there to find and exploit edges. Period.

.4 of a Royal cycle is about 16,000 coin in for quarters.
You were there a LONG time.

With 3x points you got 48,000 pts, or about $144 cash back.
You lost LESS THAN $200 playing 16000 coin in?

WOW. You are my hero.

I lost over $600 getting about 8000 points. Even tripled, I only get about $72 back from that play, leaving me a sucker and a loser.
Guess some people are luckier than others.

Ploppies can get lucky too. The definition, more or less, concerns
itself with what games you play, not what the outcome is.

But if you enjoy playing slots, knock yourself out, I don't have a
problem with it. (And some may think I mean that in a "thanks for
keeping the lights on" sense, but I mean it sincerely, in the "do
what you like, it's a free country" sense.)

My question is: In your opinion, how drastic are the strategy changes one needs to make, and how often, with a rapidly changing target? What is the best way to practice these games at home, before I hit the M? I realize hitting the royal is a longshot, but would to like to lose as little as possible if I decide to play this.

The radio show keeps getting even better. You've gotten some compelling guests. Sometimes the sound engineering isn't so great, though, especially downloaded to my MP3 player.

As far as strategy changes, if you play KBJW w/4700 royal there are no significant strategy changes as the progressive goes up. I plan on playing at M tomorrow, Pat

There is a dynamic with progressive strategy which results in you making less per hand over a longer cycle by playing conservatively and more over a shorter cycle by playing aggressively. The two balance each other out. So the easy answer to your question, "how drastic are the strategy changes one needs to make?" is, "not that great."

Make a single strategy for the lowest meter you intend to play and stick to it. The difference is very slight.

As far as the sound quality. It sounds very good on my DROID when I listen to it from the mp3. Not sure what's causing this. Can you list your equipment?

Yes I forgot to mention. The Joker is weird in the fact that the strategy differs very little from regular non-progressive play.

It's why we suggested they seed that one first. I had forgotten to mention this.
