Best Property for approx 100k-150k coin in/year?

I am moving from NYC to SF this spring. My play will naturally
migrate from AC/mixed LV to primarily Reno/L.Tahoe. Currently I am
diamond at HET and am looking to tailor my play to extract the most I
can from my new home base. Due to time constraints, I generally
flush about 10-15k in per month (one trip). Ideally, I would like to
play at a property with an LV location as well but realize I am
severely limiting myself. Right now I use a lot of HET offers from
LV as my fiance and I enjoy it there.

My primary criteria are room comps/offers in a fairly nice property -
mostly midweek is fine although I wouldnt mind the occassional wknd.
Cash back, multiplier days, etc would be gravy. I would also like a
centrally located property, if possible.

Should I stick with HET or try somewhere else? I have never been to
Reno/LT but read in ACG 2008 that comps at the Biltmore and Crystal
Bay club were easy to come by. I also read that the Hyatt was
gorgeous with easy comps but saw the terrible VP inventory they
have.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

For $10k per day you can expect comped week-end rooms at the silver
legacy, about as centrally located as you can get in Reno.

At $80k per year you'll get a gold card at either the peppermill or
the atlantis, which should open the door to some mid-week rooms.

I find it interesting that you mention three North Tahoe properties.
The Biltmore has new owners, and my offers have been cut in half.
Crystal Bay has no hotel, and the Hyatt is really a resort with a
small casino. South shore is where the bigger casinos are located.
Their business is way down in 2007, and they are hungry for fresh
meat (new players). If I were you, I would see if you can get some
free rooms at Harrah's Tahoe or Harveys and see what you like. Give
MontBleu some action and see what happens. I am getting very strong
offers from them now. Do the same for Reno. Get some free rooms at H-
R, and check out some of the other joints downtown and see what you
like. Silver Legacy, El Dorado, Peppermill and Atlantis seem to be
the favorites of this group.

Welcome to Ca. You will love the food.

The best reno properties dont have vegas exposure.
Harrahs is far from Renos best.

Atlantis ,Peppermill, Eldorado, Silver Legacy are better than
harrahs in every way , better games, better rooms, better food ,just
better period.

All above casinos would be a success in vegas.

Other Reno casinos have their fans, the Nugget in Sparks, the grand
sierra etc.

There is really no "central location" as most of us gamble at the
casino we are staying at. Downtown aint what it used to be but
Harrahs is there, but so are The Eldorado & Silver Legacy.

Check the past trip reports , we have some Xcellent posters . Lots
of info.

For your amount of action you will get weekends ,own casino host ,
more offers than you can use. Both Atlantis & the Pepp sending such
offers to me , my action similar to yours.

Others in the group get more .

I am A HUGE fan of the Pepp & Atlantis. Overall no better casinos
exist in my opinon. Your results may vary.

Reno is better than vegas for the gambler.
vegas is for the tourist

My prediction

You will love Reno, & being 4-5 hours away you will be going often
on the casino of your choice dime.

You will love the rooms, food & the LARGE amount of playable VP.

Best games/offers now are in California. If you go to Reno, be
prepared, there's a lot of unscrupulous things going on:

A shill or a pollyanna doesn't see it, but it's real. If you win, or
breakeven, in Nevada, they are convinced you are either a cheat or are
part of the Wong-Curtis-Nersesian team:

Best games/offers now are in California.

...really? i know there are some decent games in the san diego area,
but what i've heard of isn't as good as what's in reno. i was also
under the impression most of the offers there are for locals, and san
diego is much farther from the original poster than reno/tahoe is.

i'd be delighted to be wrong here. is there anything at all worthwhile
within say five hours of the bay area other than reno/tahoe?

(the other reason i've been reluctant to play in california is state
tax. giving the state a freeroll for a large percentage of winnings is
very -ev, and having to fill out a california tax return is a big
hassle. but that's not an issue for the original poster, who will have
to pay california state tax on winnings whether they're in california
or in nevada.)

If you go to Reno, be prepared, there's a lot of unscrupulous things going on:
http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2006-09-07-casino-security_x.htm

have you ever heard of someone being backroomed for legit machine
play? i'm curious. maybe it happens, but i haven't heard of it, unlike
the stories that come out regularly about card counters getting beat
up. machine players get barred occasionally, sure, but so what.

i don't think casino harassment/violence is a realistic concern for
most people on this list, but if it is, i'd take my chances with
possibly-corrupt nevada state law enforcement, vs dealing with tribal
sovereignty where who the hell knows what they're allowed to do.

thanks,

five

Well, Mr. Pollyanna, alls I gotta say is, if you really are winning
and still getting cash/freeplay offers, I'm impressed. But, they are
actively looking for just your type, and not in the nice-nice way.
Casinos are sore losers. Actually, they hardly ever actually lose, but
if they don't see an increase in winnings every month, they get pretty
ticked off about it and start looking for suspects.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, Mr. Night, would you mind explaining
just what "type" you believe Jonathan to be? You see, I probably
fall into the same category. I usually hold on to my bankroll, and
even win occasionally, yet I still get multiple offers almost every
day, from Atlantis, Silver Legacy and Peppermill. I really would like
to know just how put out I should be at this dissing on the part of
the casinos. {(O:

The way I see it is like this... With gambling becoming legal in so
many states, Nevada has to lure customers (gamblers) to their
establishments. To make the cost of airfare worthwhile, the casinos
have to kiss a little butt to get those butts in the seats and if they
hassle everybody that posted wins and all those people tell their
friends and "family" members on this site (we are a tight knit bunch),
well, those casinos would lose so much business that they would become
virtual ghost towns. Winning is a part of the casino industry same as
losing and always will be. I'm not a "Microsoft billionaire" and don't
win 2 $240,000 jackpots in 2 days, I'm just a platinum level player who
gets treated like a "somebody" when I show up in Reno every couple
months.

You're still getting cash offers from Silver Legacy?

No, I do not receive "cash" offers from the SL. I don't believe any
SL patrons, whose primary game is VP, receive cash offers at this
time. I do receive a quantity of other offers, including shopping
sprees, top notch entertainment, free tournaments, special events
like NYE and Super Bowl parties, drawings, etc., plus. of course,
comped rooms.

From Pepp and Atlantis I receive the same offers, plus nice amounts
of FP.

Now that I've answered your question, would you be kind enough to
answer mine. What were you inferring, when you stated that Jonathan
was just the "type of player that the casinos were looking for, and
not in a nice-nice way"? What type of player might that be?

I would really like to know so that, if the casino has a "malicious
mischief" intent, instead of a "thanks for your patronage" intent,
in sending me these (IMO) nice incentives, that I might guard
against falling into their trap.

After a hiatus of several months, some VP players at SL are now getting
cash offers again from SL. I redeemed one valid in Nov/Dec and will be
cashing another that was valid Jan/Feb.

I thought I made that obvious. Many casinos are of the opinion that
comps and promotions are for losers only. If you win, they will
eventually either accuse you of cheating or of being a member of the
Wong-Curtis-Nersesian team. Advantage video poker or advantage
promotions are obvious, but the casinos have caught on to the fact
that you can win against progressive and bonus reel slots also, and
other games like craps (see Wong on Dice). If they want to be nice,
they will just cut off your mail or at least the offers that involve
cash and freeplay. If they don't want to be nice, several things are
possible, some of which are illegal but you will need a lawyer to get
compensation. Read Nersesian's "Beat the Players" for details. Think
this can't happen to you?:

Evidently, it wasn't obvious to me, or I wouldn't have asked.

If I now understand your meaning, you believe that those of us that
are getting lots of nice offers, are "losers" (or at least deemed
losers, by the casino suits.)

Additionally, you state that if we are not losers, that "eventually"
we will be accused of "cheating" and either cut off from all
comps/benefits/offers, or actually backroomed and possibly
manhandled.

Since this has never happened to me in over 15 years of steady Reno
play, nor to any players that I know, some of whom are members of
this forum as well as being experienced and skilled players, I'm
wondering how you arrived at this conclusion. Have you personally
experienced this treatment? Or has someone of your acquaintance
been treated in this manner?

Thank you.

Since that hasn't happened to me over years of Reno play I am led to

Yes. But why would you take my word for it? Since it's never happened
to you or anyone you know, it never happens, right? If you are not
aware that the casinos have declared war against "Advantage Players",
there is nothing I can say that will affect your belief. Just be

"Many Las Vegas lawyers, however, say there is an emerging pattern of
intimidation and excessive force, with casino security, state gaming
officers and the Metropolitan Police Department often working in
concert to trample constitutional rights, civil liberties and gaming
regulations to deter advantage gamblers from playing at local
properties. Casinos increasingly are refusing to tolerate certain
kinds of behavior that damage their winnings, even when the courts
have ruled that behavior is legal, the attorneys say."
