But why would you feel you're more entitled to a specific machine than someone

what i said was,

"they are simply taking up space and making the games unavailable to

show me where i said i felt more "entitled"?

my point was that they are making a limited number of game machines
unavailable to those who might actually want to play them for what
they were designed for. there are obviously MANY single play
machines in a casino that someone could play. even down to a nickel.
it is not that tough to understand.

No, not that difficult to understand at all. I understood perfectly. What I
*didn't* understand was why this particular behavior would be annoying since
they had just as much right to be there and play that machine as you, no matter
what method of play they were using. If they weren't designed to play one line
at a time with a minimal bet, then it wouldn't have been provided as an option
on the game.

I have to wait in line at the grocery store, too. <shrug>

Ouch!

So sorry you feel that way. It is absolutely the only way I can play

VP over five minutes without my shoulders killing me.

Playing uprights for any length of time involves considerable moving
around every 15 or 20 minutes...eg put right foot up on the machine
pedestal...five minutes later put right forearm on right knee...switch
to left foot in 15 minutes...both feet 10 minutes after that...the
worst situation is where the pedestal is too high to comfortably put
your foot up...the El Cortez and the Vegas Club come to mind.

Same thing goes for slant tops...I'm always crossing and uncrossing my
legs...sitting with one leg tucked under, etc.

I guess one can say the VP promotes dexterity...

what bothers me a lot (besides smokers and people who play one coin at
a time!), are these totally inconsiderate SLOBS who think they are
playing VP in their living room at home and feel inclined (actually
reclined!) to place their feet up on either side of the machine!

what's next? taking off your shoes?

<<let us say you are at a casino and like to play the 50 or 100 line
games (which you seem to enjoy). and let us further say the casino
only has about 5-6 of these machines ( one of the most popular local
casinos has that many).>>

I was not referring to multi-line when I wrote earlier. However, I feel everyone has the same right in a casino - to play whatever machine they like for whatever amount they wish. Most who tie up multi-lines aren't knowledgeable players and don't realize they are violating "good manners." Some of them feel that they might get lucky and can add lines as they win. I have known some occasions when players have "bought" the multi-line machines for a small amount. They used to do that at Ellis Island when there was a particularly lucrative promotion going on. Give those nickel players $5 or $10 and they will move fast!!!!

I can tolerate the cigarette smoke in the casinos to a certain extent,
but some people smoke the most god awful smelling brands. I wonder if
the cheaper brands come with extra pesticides or something... they are
truly horrendous.

I agree with you 100% JBQ about the music. At Bally's in Atlantic City
it's been the same damn songs over and over and over...

Based on the recent threads on electronic devices, I don't know if we
can get away with the iPod!

-cigarette smoke in casinos

-lame music in casinos (I'm thinking I'll end up playing with an iPod
and noise-cancelling headphones if they let me).

-the fact that high-limit rooms only contains high-limit machines

(doh).

every third hand.

We chatted a bit when we were both idle and he was very nice.

But he was annoying the hell out of me when he kept hitting and I was

Of course, it's the turn of the cards that's annoying me and not the

Yes I am complaining again. I sat down at one of four machines that

offer

9/6 .25 JOB at TP in AC. There was a couple next to me occupying

two machines.

He would play a hand and she would watch. Then he would play a

hand and she

would watch. If she hit anything resembling a paying hand she

would first let

out a sound of delight..then clap her hands and then turned around

as he did

and simultaneously kiss..ugh! She reacted the same with his

play.This did

get tiring to Old Grumpy. (Hey maybe its me being jealous)

He would offer her advise on her play and they NEVER stopped

talking. It

boggles my mind how some people are not aware they may be

disturbing others. (I

know I am disturbed already and if I do not like it move or find

another

past time.

That being said..do you have anything you find annoying..beside my

One of those "naive'" nickel players is still laughing and
scratching about the time I paid him $10 to relinguish that great
old GN 10 play nickle 10/7DB. He was playing it one nickle at
atime. While he played the 10 play, his wife was sitting on the
next stool, in front of a single-line 10/7DB, and "helping" him
decide what cards to hold. Each hand was taking 3 to 5 minutes to
play.

They surely thought that I was the world's looniest nutcase, as
they watched me lose $200.00 in about 30 minutes. They, on the
other hand, were delighted that their initial $1.00 investment, in
the neighboring machine, soon grew to $10.00. They gave me a pitying
smile before leaving with a $19.00 profit.

You can't play 3 machines at a time without taking off your shoes.

Brett, I concur. From my own experience(not in LV)the paytable on the
multiplay machine is better than anything else in the casino. The
machine has DB 9/6 and everywhere else no matter what denomination it
is worse. I was playing single line full coin and this woman playing
next to me kept telling me to go to the bartop with its even worse
paytable. She kept putting in Bennies often in these non positive ER
games. She probably has a problem, so I say nothing.

Actually, I think that you were a real gentleman! Had this rude woman

to go somewhere else!

Dear "Da Grump",

I love your posts. . .not annoying at all! AND
I thot that it was only me(and Bob Dancer w/that
one rude, unknowledgable lady) and now YOU that got stuck sitting next to these people! I remember one time at Silverton I was sitting next to a couple playing the 2 spin poker machines next to me and every time one of them got a decent (like over the amount they bet) payout--they kissed! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!!! And this couple was old enuf to know better!!!! AND what was really annoying was that I was winning/ahead so I "couldn't" leave!!!! Or you're sitting and minding your own business and the person next to you starts making comments about the machine and complaining etc! Who are they complaining to??? I don't care!! If they're so unhappy--stay home!!!! I guess they never hear about "swings", EV, Variance,1 royal every 40,000(?) hands etc!!!

Thanks for complaining and letting me do the same!

Ya know, I really don't mind any of the stuff people
note as bothering them so far. I find it sort of the
equivelant of people watching entertainment. I assume
those couples that talk will get over it once they get
married. The only gripe I have is people who insist
on sitting directly next to me when there are rows of
empty chairs.

Thanks, Jean!

As a matter of fact LV has no interest in LV, none whatsoever! LV is the supergrandma, happily keeping all of us going, and derives her satisfactions from that. She wouldn't go to LV for all the tea in China, even though she does like certain select teas. Isn't it nice that she has never stood in my way, when I go off to LV? At those times LV and I become almost as tight as LV and I!
