I'm sure their are hidden v.p. gems in the place but as far as I'm
concerned it's a v.p. hellhole. I like to play at the bars and they
have some of the worst bar-top v.p. this side of The Bellagio .
I can't play uprights for longer then 10-15 minutes and all the slant
tops have a spotlight shining directly on them which makes it
impossible to see the cards.
I'm back to Harrahs as much as the cashback and comps suck. What I'm
trying to do is quit playing in Stl. entirely and save it for L.V.

We prefer Harrah's because they have more slant tops. They also have
some games that Ameristar doesn't have, like Deuces Super Bonus and
One-Eyed Jacks. On lower paying games (which you can play while
waiting for a better machine), Harrah's gives a $2K royal where
Ameristar is only $1K on the exact same game.

We try to play only on multiple point days - but you have to watch
your account carefully because about half the time, the bonus points
are not credited. Of course the comps can be used in Las Vegas, too.
Diamonds are seated in the buffet immediately without even stopping
to pay. Ameristar can't touch that.
What we can't stand at Harrah's is the terrible repetitive music and
noise. What were they thinking with that I-Bar?

Hellhole? I would not refer to any casino that offers 99%+ VP as a
hellhole. Sure, Ameristar isn't exactly VP heaven, but it's far from
hell.
Has anyone heard anything more about 3x points on Thursdays and
Sundays?

I agree. I don't know why Ameristar doesn't have a seperate Star Club
line at the buffet. I also don't know why they haven't consolidated
their slot clubs. Ameristar in KC has some great food options.

The I-Bar gets PACKED late on Friday and Saturday nights. They're
obviously marketing to the 20 and 30-somethings with this outlet and it
seems to be quite successful.

In the men's room late on Friday & Saturday nights there isn't a single
stall that hasn't been sick in. A young lady who locked herself in a
stall in the ladies' room and then passed out was wheeled out in a wheel
chair by security. This is not what we want to see at "our" Harrah's...
I have to agree with you, Ameristar is a excellent casino as far as
layout, cust service, resturants, especially when they get thier hotel
finished, and the games are paletable, but certainly not attractive.
I just went to AC and almost every game at every casino was in the
96-97% flavors and that makes Ameristar look pretty good. I also
second the motion for a Star Club line at the buffet, even with a
elite or star club card the wait can be 15-30 minutes. I am too
spoiled at Harrahs with never waiting at any rest. (7*)
RE: 3x points, I just got a mailer today proclaiming a wonderful 2x
points automatically at any slot machine, not bad, but not good
enought to make most games playable. I hope you are right about the
3x, that is close enough for at least some play to keep my status.
