Was there for dinner tonite and to check on remaining inventory...There is no
inventory. Besides all the deuces, the five 10/7 DBs are now 9/7s.
So sad. Nothing left. Shirl in LV

The title of you post says it all, but I can't help adding a few more
comments. One year ago Suncoast had 70 FPDW, Orleans had 149, Gold
Coast had 100+ and Barbary Coast had 18. Today the grand total is
zero. On the El Cortez website there is a history page with some
information about Jackie Gaughan. Here is a snip from the page:
"Give the customers a good deal, and they'll come back," is the
Gaughan philosophy.
Apparently while Jackies son Michael understood this at one time and
this helped him to build Coast casinos as a force in the Las Vegas
locals market. He now thinks he knows better than his dad. The new
philosophy is apparently screw the customers there are plenty more
where they came from.
He is going to lose a lot of loyal customers that were regular
visitors to the Barbary Coast. The property has a lot of shortcomings
compared to its strip neighbors, but these were things that people
could over look when they knew they were getting better odds
gambling. I used to be one of Coast casinos biggest fans, now I'm on
a train headed to the next station. -JFR
