Your perfect player's club

This was a thread that came up on the Casino Comps list in another form, so
my apologies to those of you who've already gotten in on the action there.
Someone purporting to work for MGM Mirage marketing was soliciting
suggestions for their player's club. And whether or not the fellow was for
real about his professional affiliation, it has certainly created a rather
lively discussion about players' likes and dislikes.

I'd like to open the subject for discussion here on this list as well. If
you could design a players' club to your specifications, what would it look
like? I'm not talking about Total Rewards or Club Coast or any other
particular player's club ... just generally, across the board, what do you
all like and what do you all dislike about the clubs you belong to? What
would you like to see casinos offer that they're not currently including in
their player's club offerings? What are the features, benefits or promos
that would make you choose one casino over another?

I'd be real interested to see what this board has to say - given the
diversity of membership. We have Las Vegas locals, tourists who visit once
or twice a year, pros, pundits, authors, advantage players, recreational
players, newbies, experts, etc. ... and each of us likely gets something
different out of the whole experience.

So what is it that you want out of your player's club?

would it look like?

Sunshine Policy - everything's out in the open. Full disclosure of
what's required for what. In writing.

Swipe Your Card - everthing is done by swiping your card so you don't
have to deal with some surly boothing.

ID Required - at point of redemption. Elimination of fraud to players.

Players Advocate - at least in the form of an email addy and phone
number where issues could be explained both ways, instead of talking
to a boothling who thinks you're a crook, speaking French, and looks
at you like a calf looking at a new gate.

As an out-of-state visitor (3-4 trips/year) I prefer:

  (1) Good cashback - same day payments, single (high) rate for everyone.
"Tiered" cashback rates sucks if your're not a local (see Boyd Gaming).
Bounceback sucks if you're not a local.

  (2) Notification of upcoming events 4-8 weeks in advance - if a promo is
interesting enough I may book a flight to come down. Best rates for flights
are 4-6 weeks ahead of time. Sending me a February newsletter which
arrives on Jan 29 is pretty much useless.
