Your machine got hot, technician says "You have to move", what would you do?

A couple of months ago, I was playing SpinPoker Deluxe for the first
time at Harrahs Rincon (San Diego). The couple playing next to me keeps
hitting a lot playing the Deuces Wild. I was playing Bonus Poker and
Jacks or Better then decided to switch to Deuces Wild. My machine
started hitting a lot also. The ducks keep coming very frequently.
Some passers by started watching us (bank of 4 machines). Then a casino
technician watch us also for a little bit. 5-10 minutes later, this
tech came back and told me "Excuse me but you have to move. I need to
work on this machine.". Stupid me. I just said "No problem" and moved.

Has this ever happened to you and what did you do in that situation?

Hi Gilbert,

No, this has never happened to me. Of course, one never rally KNOWS
what they will do in a real life situation, until it actually
happens to them. However, I THINK I would play this in the
following manner: To slot technician: "I'll be glad to move so
that you can work on the machine, as soon as'm FINISHED playing it".
If the tech remained adament that I move right then, I would ask to
speak to a vp/slot supervisor. I would continue to play as waited
for the supervisor. If the aupervisor also demanded that I move, I
would insist on seeing the Casino Manager. Again I would continue
playing as long as the machine continued to give me good hands. If
I was threatened, in any way, by Security, I would move
immediately. I would then immediately place a call/complaint to the
Nevada State Gaming Commission. I wou;ld not let that complaint
drop until I had some satisfaction. I would also NEVER play at that
casino again, and would try to convince everyone I knew to desert
them as well.

Thanks for starting what I think, is an interesting thread. I too
would like to read the opinions of others as to what their course of
action would be under similiar circumstances.

Move permanently/move temporarilly? Slightly different situations.

In either case, you move. Any complaints would fall on deaf ears.
Refusing and getting barred would seem childish behavior. It is their
machine. As long as you get the machine back in a few
minutes(happends a lot around 4:00AM) or get to cash out, a person has
nothing to complain about.

Hi Dipy,

I respect your opinion, and would differ only in the amount of time
that I could POLITELY stay at the machine and continue playing,
while awaiting the decision of a higher authority.

I don't think that it would be incumbent on me to relinguish the
machine the instant that the tech told me I had to move. I do
think, that in this instance, "stalling" is not uncalled for.

Of course, at the slightess hint of the kind of acrimony which could
lead to "barring", I would vacate the machine with all due haste.

Now, the more interesting question..........WHAT do you suppose the
tech was going to do to the machine? Surely, nothing to affect
either the pay table or the randomness? WHY, did he appear, so
suddenly, when the machine turned blissfully "hot"?

I, too have been asked to vacate a machine (the old coin-dropper
variety) early in the morning, when the attendants were scooping up
the buckets of coins, from the bottom of the machines. I never
objected to this interruption, which rarely took more than a minute
or two.

Additional info...
This actually happened around 3pm Sunday afternoon.
I was almost sure that at least one of those people watching us play
these machines would wait for the technician to finish and play my
machine as it was hitting pretty good.
Between 5pm and 6pm, I revisited the area where these SpinPoker
Deluxe are located and guess what? Nobody was playing any of the
four machines. hmmmmm.....

Was the technician's cologne that "bad" or did people smelled
something really "fishy" going on in the mid-afternoon?
(this is an Indian casino, by the way, not in vegas)

You have even fewer rights at the Indian casino. If you don't jump
immediately, they can/will throw you out. No one to complain to.
They are the only authority over themselves.

ps: I don't believe in hot machines, other than the bell curve seems
to be going in my favor currently. Like the $200 I won this weekend
at AA at the Indian casino run by Harrah's north of Topeka. It just
kept giving me 40 coins at a time and just 1 more 4 OAK then expected.
2 hours and 5 4oaks at about 1000 HPH. No straight flushes, not that
I would have complained.

After that I went to Golden Eagle, where I don't think the machines
are quite random, and received a quarter spade Royal Flush(Held 4, yes
it can happen) on 9/6 DDB(The previous woman lost $100 and complained
to me about it, so I had to prove to her that it wasn't cold) and 8
out of 9 on 10 cent keno bet for $470(after losing about $200). Went
home this last weekend up $1000. Mathematically speaking, it was my
weekend. Although it still puts me $300 less then my maximum of
$3300 ahead for the year.
