You LIKE Valley View? For real?

After all the expectation and delays I finally made it to Valley View this past weekend. The word "disappointment" doesn't do justice to what I experienced.

To be fair, I didn't try the buffet which you all have raved about. And there's a reason I didn't: the line to sign up for the slot club had at least 35 people in it. Since I didn't have hours to spend there (nightfall was approaching and I wanted to be safely on the road) I played without a card.

I expected more full-pay machines for such an out of the way place. But you can find a good paytable mixed in if you look. Never heard much from cocktail (meaning soft drink) waitresses, but I wasn't thirsty.

The smoke did get to me after awhile. Not as toxic as Pechanga, but bad enough.

Stopped by Rincon on the way back. Horrible Harrahs paytables, as you already know. But it felt like the Ritz Carlton after the last 90 minutes in V V.

Drive all the way to Valley View again? No way, no how.

Well, it's good to hear about ValleyView, don't think I'll be bothering to make that drive.

I'm curious about Rincon - how would you describe it as compared to Pala & Pechanga, for instance?

Thanks
Valerie

We all have different tastes and styles. And those who love Valley View are entitled to their opinion.

It's just that I read for months how great the VV buffet is, plus the database listed some good full-pay options. Then, you finally get there and it's not at all what you expected. If the slot club line is a mile-long and the buffet wait is another, plus all the driving, then how great can the meal be to justify that waste of your limited time?

As for Rincon, it would be outstanding if they had good VP offerings AND Harrahs treated you well. The property looked spotless and upscale to me, nicer than Pechanga and without all the smoke. I only stopped in briefly and did not dine there or visit the Diamond Lounge.

Clearly, the VP paytables have to be the #1 consideration. Sadly, Rincon is as bad as its reputation. I don't think any (or most) of the vpFREE membership is interested in gambling just for entertainment only. We all want a reasonable chance of winning, and it seems like Harrahs does all it can to block that. I saw 7/5 $1 Jacks and knew my visit would be a brief one. It's a shame, because the casino itself looks great.
