You KNOW what's going to happen at the O'Aces bar Mon nite

Around an hour before game time all the wiseguys will show up and
occupy all the machines. They will sip a beer and play single-coin
(or not at all) until game time, at which point they will commence
playing fast and furious. Those that don't hit a royal (the
majority) will become more aggraveted and surly as time goes on,
making imperious demands for change from the harried bartenders, and
generally making an obnoxious nuisance of themselves. Probably NO
one will hit TWO royals on the first Monday night; God only knows
what kind of verification the bartender would give you when you hit
your first royal, but let's call it a "royal receipt". Now on the
second Monday night, somebody hits a (second) royal. The signature
on the royal receipt is smudged and the whole thing is smeared and
smudged from being carried in the player's back pocket all week (the
SAME back pocket; doing laundry costs money). After a forty-five
minute argument, the player gets paid so as not to create any
further disturbance. A couple of other people hit the royal and get
the bonus. Life goes on.
Week 3: The regulars are starting to complain that they can't get at
the machines; if they slide onto a stool in front of what appears to
be an empty machine, one of the wiseguys is liable to snarl, "That's
MY machine" upon returning from the bathroom. Several people get
paid for their third or fourth royal. The atmosphere in the bar has
changed from party to funeral. After the game, management notes that
it paid out $6500 in promo bonuses.
Week 4: It now seems that every player has one or more "royal
receipts". The royals hit over and over, and $17000 in bonuses are
paid out. The last straw is when someone examining the "royal
receipts" from last week notices that the signatures on many of
them, in fact the ENTIRE receipts, are identical. This is because on
of the players (or more) took their first royal receipt down to
Kinko's, and then passed all the duplicates out. Management cancels
the promotion, at 8:05, in the middle of the third quarter, and
throws out half the players.
Democrats immediately cry that the failure of the O'Aces promo is
George Bush's fault.
But seriously, folks, you KNOW this, or something similar, is going
to happen; the promo will be attacked, abused, and maybe even
cheated on, and management will kill it in disgust. Just like what
happened at, for instance, the Tuscany with the 4RF promo. Ick.

I estimate that on a triple play, the royal cycle will be approx 25
hours.
There are 17 Monday Night games of about 4 hours each (68 hours)
It is therefore unlikely that 4 royals will be hit.

The "wiseguys" that I know have elected to pass. You must be lucky to
hit four, not smart.

This is not appropriate "humor" for either side. I hope Tom will put you on
monitor status before political crap poisons this board.

As a general rule, the only way a member can earn "moderated
status" on an immediate basis is to post something that the
Administrator deems to be in extremely bad taste.

Otherwise, no subject is forbidden per se, and vpFREE is self
moderated by the members ... respond to controversial messages
only if you don't wish to consider the source and take them
with a grain of salt. Then, if/when things becomes disruptive,
as determined by the Administrator, selective moderation may
occur and the thread will be moved to FREEvpFREE. Infrequent,
controversial, off-topic viewpoints will be tolerated, but they
won't be allowed to develop into lengthy threads.
