and according to my host they don't know why the computer divided my 2 night
stay into 3 separate trips (including the day where I "checked out" though
actually I had checked out night previously). And they can't fix it! This
resulted in a much lower trip average, and though a host can look at my
account
and put me into any events, the problem can't be fixed so I will get
invitations."
Just amazes me how casinos can track every $ in & out of machines we play,
but they can't fix a simple error.
Before PCs came into being in the late 70s, computers were a tool that was
under the control of accounting depts. If other depts needed things like
BICARSA (billing, inventory control, AR/AP, sales analysis) or something like order
tracking it still was under the control of the actg dept.
Actg with a natural focus on number crunching & audit trails is leery of
corrections which are deleted so there is no such thing as a deletion just a
reversal. So all this old baggage (mistaken trip info, etc.) stays in the system
& hosts with a lot of patience learn how to compensate but marketing's
automatic-offer generation programs aren't programmed to make these adjustments.
As a long-ago controller, I've seen a lot of bad programs so I believe in
programs with audit trails. As Linda's problem with LVH is a common problem,
you'd think that they'd have a fix by now. Most likely the ability to do a
correct customer-play report is there in the form of a report writer that no one
knows how to use or the report exists but staff don't know how to generate it
or read it.
We shouldn't complain too loudly for fear that they will upgrade their
skills & staff & then they'd not only fix this mistake but all the other mistakes
that give us a reason to show up.
PS to Linda: I remember I got a sheet with all the LVH events for the yr.
Believe it came from hosts office. Suggest you ask for the calendar. If you
can't get it, email & I will go through my misfiling system to send it to you.
