1.Downgrades at Binions? Fleas excluded from downgrades?
2. Players trying to explain they are Boyd shareholders while in mid air
being thrown out the door of Coast casinos?
3. We all run en mass to the nearest Stations casino where they still love
us? I went Friday to Boulder. No freeplay showing for my card. The cheerful
boothling at the players club handed me a flyer explaining the NEW DAILY JUMBO
JACKPOT OF $25K. (Grrrrrrrr) I instantly knew soon all freeplay will be in the
form of a $25 freeplay bonus if your card is inserted when somebody hits the
25k jackpot. I mean do we call each other at 10pm, "Hey Joe its not hit yet,
get over here and play one penny with your card inserted but make sure your
Stations one share of stock certificate is pinned to your back." BTW, did we
all notice the combining of the big jumbo to all Stations? Do you think that
means more or less total Jumbo? Does the possible change from freeplay to
freeplay if your card is inserted when a Jumbo is hit mean more or less total
freeplay for us? Your answers must be in clear legible sentences in the test
booklet. Or never mind what I say, just focus on the Stations shuttle bus with
the pictures of happy winners on the side.
3a. On Thursday I was at Boulder for some Mexican food and tried for the
half point discount (Mon thru Thur 3 to 6p at the Guadalajara and 4 to 6 and 5
to 6 at the Broiler and Pasta Palace) The server didn't quite understand what
to do and charged me full points and said take the receipt to the players
club and they will deduct half points. I did. The cheerful boothing spent about
5 min typing stuff in the computer then printed out a voucher for 3000 points.
I signed it in a hurry, not thinking. She said take the this part back to
the server when you order. I started to say "Yeah but I already ate..." then
stopped. I got a few feet away from the players club and realized something
was wrong. Went back. The boothling that helped me was cheerfully obfuscating
something from another patron so I went to the only other boothling. More
typing in the computer. A little Mona Lisa smile trickles out of her face. More
typing in the computer. She cheerfully announces. "There I fixed it. Your
points are restored." I gave up. Anyway, the only good thing about the Guadalajara
is the service is real quick. The food comes to your table quickly but not
with the black beans substituted for the refried like you asked. The chips are
maybe from out of a bag but the service is fast. Would you like me to put
in a rant about Willy and Jose's at nearby Sam's Town? Thanks for asking, I
will. Went there Saturday. First thing I noticed, not having eaten there in
years is they have lights now inside. Used to be so dark you couldn't read the
menu. Second thing I noticed was the loud background music. It was not
mariachi like it should be it was the crummy northern small combo style. I think all
the accordion players who learned Lady of Spain moved to the state of Sonora
to find work. I asked the server, "So what would it take to have real
mariachi music on the sound system? She answered, "That would be more expensive."
The food was better than at the Guadalajara but it took the server forever to
bring me my bill and deduct the points. Also I think I must have heard "My
name is Cindy and I will be your server pop out of her mouth ten times along
with. "Thank you sir." everything I looked at her, funny look or not.
JT, he's inverted and he thinks somehow they know. His cat looks at him like
it's saying, "you're right, they know."
p.s. I have two free tickets if anybody wants for the Gold Coast
Guard-Robber Shootout Reenactment next Friday at 2pm.
OK, I'll add some more misery. The Coast horse race book had a 7% comp (3x
turf points) for making phone bets over the phone. If you were careful to make
select show bets you could garner about a 4% comp profit. I did that for
several years. No more. Since Janurary they only offer 2x points on Monday and
Tuesday, crappy racing days.
