So, on the ship I was cruising on last month, when they offer "free money" in
the form of match-play chips in the amount of $15 for "only" $10, nobody
should point out that this is a ripoff? I made sure my (unknowledgeable) friends
on the cruise knew not to take up that offer.

That WinCards offer is not a rip-off - it's a good offer. Better on regular BJ than 6:5 but still okay on that. Actually it is sometimes better on the Fun 21 tables that give even money on BJ. Matchplays are often better on these latter tables if they only give even money on BJ's with these chips.
