The Stardust now has a small pit of 6/5 Blackjack (about 50 m from
the front
desk area) and they even hit soft 17. It is billed as single deck
and gets
patronage. It seems that if the public doesn't avoid this rip off
then this
will eventually become the standard and the regular 3/2 blackjack
will cease
to exist. If you inadvertantly sit down and get a BJ at one of
these games,
color up at once and let the dealer know (be polite of course) that
you feel
that it is unfair not getting 3 to 2 and leave. The other players
at the
table will notice this and hopefully so will the floorperson. Let
them know
you lose enough at the game without being shorted on your few
blackjacks.
Obviously, patronize the 3 to 2 games (3 to 2 multi deck is much
better than
ripoff 6 to 5 single deck).
Or--if one is an "impish" mood--watch until a round or two has been
dealt, and all the aces remain. At which point, game has an ER of at
least 101% (assuming constant bets thru remainder of deck). Several
changes to basic strategy are indicated; rarely hit a breaking hand
against a bust card, sometimes hit hard 17, be more aggressive
doubling on 10 and less on 11.
Don't be too surprised, however, if you're "backed off".
A typical strategy follows:
user deck
Insurance offered
Dealer hits soft-17
With dealer blackjack, player...
Loses one bet max
On ties, player pushes, except...
Loses with 22-26
Resplit to make four hands
Resplit aces not allowed
OK to split unlike 10s, like J-Q
Check hole card under 10, A
Double any hard total
Soft doubling allowed
After splitting...
No hard doubling
Shufffle used was: Random Swaps
Dealt to 26 cards remaining.
