xvp using 1st class bathrooms

There are several reasons I've had to use the 1st class bathroom.

A cart was in the middle of coach which you can't get around, but can go up
to the front.
Or coach only has 2 bathrooms, with a long line, or 1 is out of order - so
you go to 1st class.

While it may be slightly annoying to have people passing by 1st class to use
the bathroom - consider the alternative if they can't get to a bathroom in
time -- I don't think you'd prefer that!

On some flights there may be 6-10 people in 1st class with 1 bathroom, while
in coach there may be 50 people per bathroom. Do the odds.

Yep - I think it is better for people to go up to 1st if they have to go and
can't conveniently get into coach. It seems the number of bathrooms in
coach has been decreasing over the years. So the "problem" for 1st class people
is increasing. 1st classers -- I think if you were flying coach, pretty soon
you'd find yourself having to make a trip forward once in a while too.

The airlines, in order to give u lower fares (or so they claim) minimize non revenue space (although with them charging for more things, don't be surprise if they institute pay toilets) they have few restrooms. Once on America West (I avoide them whenever possible due their outrageous $100 change fees) I needed to go and the coach can was ful and was chastised for going to the first class can. I sent them an email and said, "Do you need a first class ass to use the first class can?" Try doing that, may be they will get the point!

When a person purchases a first class ticket, they expect certain ammenities to be included in that ticket purchase. A designated lavatory is one of them (and in todays' domestic first class cabin, one of the very FEW ammenities, I might add). Being chastised for using that lavatory because the other one was full may have made you angry, but it was the CORRECT thing for the FA to do. Having stated that, however, as I said before, there are always circumstances in which a person must use the forward lavatory such as carts in the aisles, a true physical emergency etc. If people want to use the first class cabin ammenities, they should purchase a first class ticket. BTW, America West is not the only domestic airline to restrict the first class lavatory to the first class customers.
