XVP -UK Circus casino

After many years, I set foot again in a UK casino. It was one of the many Circus casinos which can be found all over the UK. They do still want your address and ID before entering, but you don´t have to wait 24 hours to get in anymore. Also, no dress code. I got in wearing jeans and sneakers.

They have an ongoing offer, you can eat a three course meal for 5 pounds and then get a matchplay for 5 or (depending on when you eat) 10 pounds. We tried this for the 10 pound MP which we used at a single zero roulette game. Both of us won!

The food was not very good, but not bad either (for a fiver).

Sodas and tea/coffee are free, but you have to pay for alcohol. All casinos in the UK are non-smoking now, which however means you get to smell all kinds of other stuff which is not always pleasant but at least those smells don´t affect your health.

Inside the casino were table games, arout 20 slotmachines and, strangely enough, lots of open space. Every slot machine sported its pay-out percentage on the face plate (between 90 and 95%). When I visited the ladies room there was a stack of official Circus leaflets detailing the house edge of all casino games. Quite remarkable!

And, in the middle of the casino, there was a clock (!).

No VP, although I did find a VP machine in a London airport later. I pressed HELP and it told me it was a random game with a 91% pay out... ouch.
