Last week, I hosted my sister-in-law & two of her friends. Put them up at the
Venetian for 2 nights then moved them over to the Mirage for 2 nights so
they could compare.
When they got ready to switch I offered to take their luggage over in my
2-seater car while they walked over to the Mirage across the street. They didn't
want me to strain with one particularly heavy piece so they took a taxi. I told
the V's bellman where they were going then left to get to the Mirage before
my guests.
When I met up with them, I asked how much they were charged. They reluctantly
told me that the fare was $3.20 but the driver got $15. After some probing
they told me that the V's bellman tried to wave off the driver but the driver
was determined not to let anyone get "his" fare. When he found out the trip was
to the Mirage, he blew up. On the short drive over, he leaned on the horn.
When he got to Mirage, he dumped the luggage on the street. Then he demanded that
the ladies make it up to him for the short ride & then took off as fast as he
could.
I asked if they got his cab number or the name of the company. They were so
flustered that no one remembered. Fortunately the Mirage bellmen saved the day
by being extremely attentive & helpful after seeing the rude display.
I'd like to report this but without a cab number or company I'm at a loss
what to do.
Wherever you are, when you take a cab, get the number, company, time &
destination. Report any misbehavior.
We need to remove the criminal element from driving cabs.
