XVP: This weekend in LV...What's up?

I have been trying for weeks now to find a 'budget' room in LV for this weekend. Things have gone from bad to worse & now there seems to be no hotel or motel even remotely close to LV with an available room! Well...unless one can afford $200 a night! I am just curious, can anyone "in the know" tell me if this a "typical" weekend or is there some giant convention/event going on? Or is it because of April Fools Day??? Any ideas on how to get a room under these circumstance?

If you go to http://www.lasvegashotel.com, you can find some in Jean and Stateline (about 214 miles south from the strip
on I-15) for $69 (Gold Strike), $75 (whiskey Petes) and $85 (Primm Valley).

Also, if you have a player's card for a casino, sometimes you can call and get a good room rate even if you think you
don't have enough points built up. I have been able to do that quite a few times (even got free rooms!) when I know I
didn't have enough points to qualify. If nothing else, you may be able to get a cheaper room rate than what is
advertised on the internet.

Try Travelaxe. It shows a low price of $138.97 total for Friday and
Saturday at the Las Vegas Club. It searches across multiple pricing
sites and combines the results.

There is a huge convention on jacks or batter poker - all hotels. Guarateed to make you a winner. too bad you didn't know about this sooner.....
