Well, there must truly be a balance in the world, for this was surely
our worst year ever playing vp in Las Vegas! Between Donna and me, we
only achieved 16 royals of which half were at the 5 cent level, and we
have always been quarter players up until the huge losses this year. We
even managed to lose hundreds and hundreds playing pennies on 50 and 100
plays during royal scratch card promotions and never hit a single royal
on them! And yet it appears that Tom and Susan were hitting them twice
as fast as normal cycles and are already off to a great start for 2003!
Congratulations! I manage to find great plays, write about them and use
every coupon and advantage known to mankind and yet I can't seem to make
them work for us. We probably lost more match play coupons than ever
this year too. Go figure!But, all that said, while we may have been unlucky at cards this past
year, it was the most blessed of all years for us with the birth of our
son, Zachary. His college fund certainly didn't grow much, but we'll
get'em this year!
Scot, don't worry about funding Zach's college years. Just concentrate on
getting him accepted & grants & financial aid will take care of the rest.
Simply, whatever funding you set aside for college is normally deducted from
any consideration for grants & aid. So not having any college fund will
qualify him for the maximum amount available.
Or consider having him go to college in Canada where education is (to
paraphrase the Olympic motto) faster, higher & a much better value than in
the US at current exchange rates.
