XVP : The Harrahshoe aka Binions responds to 6:5 BJ complaint

There's so much angst over the disappearance of advantage play. Unfortunately
we're going to have to get used to it.

This is most likely what will happen especially in those areas where tourists
are the target market.

It just makes sense. As time passes, the old guard who ran operations by the
seat of their pants & nourished personal relationships with low-margin high
rollers are pushed out by "bottom-liners".

As for 6-5 BJ, a good hit-and-run is to play 2-1 BJ coupons till it hits.
It's good for card counters since these are short sessions & the coupons will
probably attract sneers in lieu of close attention.

I agree. Even though we dont like it, the casino's are in the business to make money, not give it to us. If people play the 6:5 blackjack and 6/5 Jack's or Better, the casino's will keep it out there.
A lot of player's, especialy in Las Vegas, dont know how to play blackjack at all. I don't believe some of the play's I saw out there, like hitting a hard 15 against the dealer's 6, hitting soft 21's and stuff like that.
We just have to make do the best we can. As long as I cant resist playing the Atlantic City Wild Joker's, even a little, the casino's will make some money off of me. <g>

Why have such a defeatist attitude when it comes to the decline of
advantage play? We're Americans not Frenchmen.

Why would you stick up for the corporate casinos? I say stick it to
them and play elsewhere.

I don't think it's a defeatist attitude as much as it is realistic. Things are changing. In a manner of speaking, I boycott the casinos that no longer offer decent play, because I play vp exclusively in those that still do. What else are you going to do? Picket the front door? If I thought that a letter of complaint to management would actually do any good, I'd send one, but I'm convinced that it would be nothing except a waste of my time. When there is no decent vp within my area to suit me, I'll either play short coin for comps, change to a table game, or quit going. I've already started practicing Texas Hold'em and boning up on my home brewing of beer (a former hobby that was more or less replaced by vp).

Sticking it to the casinos is one of the best things about advantage
play...right up there with making money. My problem is I can't stick
it to casinos that don't offer a game I can beat, and these are
usually the casinos to whom I'd really like to stick it. Sigh.

Sticking it to ...

Hans was questionning why anyone would stick _UP_ for a casino.
