Subject: XVP-Texas Holdem
Would someone care to explain the attraction of Texas Holdem.
The mix of skill vs short-term luck vs long-term luck in Holdmen is such
that it mirrors many people's perception of that mix in life.
By all appearances, the game is dominated by randomness & luck, yet you know
that over the course of years, it balances. At least once in while, you can
see how fate (the cards) gives you nothing, yet free will (how you play your
cards) overcomes it. Thus, it increases some players faith that the same is
possible in life.
