Bonnie and George - I hope you do take the Alaskan cruise. True, an outside cabin IS the best choice - but I think you would really enjoy the cruise in spite of not getting one. And if it is free - well, the price is right!!!! We took this cruise and just loved it.
You do not have to use the figure on the 1099. I printed out from the Internet what we could have gotten our "free" cruise for and used that figure on our tax return.
