XVP (sorta)- What to do with cash

I've been playing VP for about 2 years but until my latest trip had
never hit a royal flush, where in fact I hit 2 in consecutive days.
This led to a problem that I never really thought about. I was
already hauling around more cash than I normally do and now I had much
more than I wanted. What do most out-of-towners do in this situation?
I thought about maybe opening an account at Bank of America (not just
for this because I'm thinking this won't be a problem I have that
often). Ended up hauling the cash home with me and depositing it with
my local bank, but I think that wasn't the optimal solution to the
problem. Some folks on this list play regularly and I'm gussing even
above the .25 cent level like I do. What's the best way to deal with
this should I ever be lucky enough to have this problem again?

It's great to have that problem isn't it? LOL I suppose there are
several solutions. The first and most obvious is to ask for all or a
portion of your winnings in the form of a check. You can even send
it home if you think you might gamble it away. I have also been told
sometimes that the cashier cannot provide a check, in which case it's
time to find a bank and get a cashiers check or money order. One
time, during an already winning trip, I hit a royal in the late
afternoon at Luxor with a flight out early the next morning and they
wouldn't/couldn't cut me a check. Their loss. I stopped playing
there immediately and ran across the street to the MGM before their
AMEX office closed and purchased travelers checks. Expensive
insurance probably, but I couldn't be sure of finding a bank open and
it was a better alternative than traveling with too many thousands of
dollars in cash.

Jeff-

   If you're a member of AAA, you can convert it to travelers checks for free. They have an office on West Charleston. Most banks will do it for a small fee, about 1 or 2 percent of the total.
   Some ATMs allow you to make deposits, so you might want to check those out. You can deposit the cash back into your account right at the machine. I've done it at my own bank, after hitting a royal on a weekend in AC, but it should work with any ATM that accepts a deposit.
   Someone else may know this better than I do. If you hit a big one, I think the casino will issue you a check instead of cash. They may be willing to convert a couple thousand into a check for someone who won on their property.
   I don't think carrying the cash around in Vegas is much of a problem, as long as you stick to the Strip and Fremont Street. These are well patrolled. I hit a royal my last trip to Vegas, and was not at all afraid of losing the money there. Then I went back home, and took the airport shuttle to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia to await my train back to AC. I went to McDs for some breakfast, and a couple bums started hitting me up for money. Suddenly I felt uncomfortable carrying $1,300 in cash in my pocket.

I buy postal money orders & send the $$ to Schwab to put in my
account. I always brings some pre-paid envelopes so works well.

Across from the Stardust, there is a currency exchange and they will
sell you travelers checks without charge. You can also BUY Postal
Money Orders, etc

it sounds like a good ideal to open a account with Bank of America,
when you win you can deposit it, plus you can send the money that your
gone to bring with you to the bank so you won't have to carry it from
home. but if you can't get to the bank to before your flight you
could use western union, don't know what they charge ?

Thanks to everybody for the advice. I think I'll take the traveler's
checks or money order advice over the trip to the Chicken Ranch,
although I see the merits of both solutions. ; )
