Please excuse this off-topic post, but…
The gist of this story are this. Two little girls (3 and 4 years old) emigrated with their father from the Soviet Union in 1991. They came to live in Las Vegas. They were legal residents. A few years ago, the father and his American wife, who had three younger children, all U.S. citizens, were divorced. Unbeknownst to him this changed the legal status of his two oldest daughters. They are now 17 and 18 and are being held in jail awaiting deportation to a country they don't know and where they have no friends or relatives. The girls speak no other language than english. Their family is here. Their dad is in the process of becoming a naturalized citizen.
