There are two proposals that will likely make it onto the November ballot

I am an adament and insistent non-smoker. However, what the judge did here
made this into a proposition I would never vote for. It apparently will
state that NO room in Nevada is to be a smoking hotel room. As long as there are
plenty of non-smoking rooms, I am happy but this is totally unfair to
smokers and will cost our economy mightily if it is enforced. And who will enforce
it?

NJ took a moderately balanced approach in allowing hotels to designate
up to 20% of their rooms as "smoking permitted". Now that the casino
exemption has been removed, with the exception of gaming areas, it's
my understanding that they are now subject to this limit.

Implementation of the restriction is another matter. At Trump Plaza,
I was pleased to find that non-smoking rooms in the East Tower (the
one that has the most favorable ocean view of the two towers) now
extend beyond the first 6 floors. We recently had Bev's niece and
husband join us for a visit and I requested upper floor rooms.

Stepping off the elevator would be a challenge for an astmatic and
they'd likely go into a fit of wheezing upon stepping into their room.
Suffice it to say we we back to a lower floor room in no time. I
wonder if other hotels have effectively thumbed their nose in
complying with the new law.

(As a sidenote, the allocation of non smoking suites is unchanged.)
