xvp Slot Tourney at the Pepp

Peppermill in Reno having Basket of Bucks high-low Slot tourney for
$199 sun / mon March 26-27 includes "Complimentary Room for our out of
town guests" on my offer (USUALLY it is for everybody including first
timers, PLEASE verify for you if you call ) for those looking an excuse
to try Reno-Reno.

Everybody receives at least a $50 prize, $2500 for last .
Prize money is $45k total at 300 players so it is an even play.

($199 - $50= $150 [rounded of course] true cost x 300players = $45k
+ awards dinner, free drinks at all but 2 out of 14! bars, free airport
shuttle.

low key affairs at the Pepp because it is a credit tournament,
Everybody plays off the credits on time if not real early.

mklpryy24 told us about a slot tournament at the Peppermill and added it
up as ($199 - $50= $150 [rounded of course] true cost x 300players =
$45k

While this may indeed be a decent play for low rollers who value
the room and drinks and want to experience Peppermill events, I think he
counted the guaranteed $50 twice. The $50 that the lowest 100 (could be
a different number --- I don't have the brochure) people receive is
likely counted as $5,000 in the prize pool.

No Mr Dancer my math is right & the $50 is for 90th thru 229th & the
payouts go UP after 229th ($2,500 for last)& before the 90th, ($70
for 40th thru 89th.) EVERYBODY gets something . Payouts are for 300
entrys, will adjusted for # of players, always been more than 300
when i have played & they adjusted up.

Go to peppermillreno.com & go to "tournaments" & click on the icon,
the "brochure" will pop up with all info,

I have played this type of tournament at both the Pepp & Atlantis
before ( see previous TR's)& thats how it works in Reno-Reno for
about 1/2 of the tourneys at these 2 casinos .

An article you wrote is where i learned how to figure
the "playability" of tournaments ,

Its an even play & a great deal for somebody looking for a reason to
go to the Pepp for the first time or you dont get your room already
comped.

I dont understand your "low roller" comment on a casino where you can
play $25 or higher a hand on such games as 5play JOB/NSUD multi strike
, $5 Super Aces, 10/6 DDB etc. games that vegas players wish they
had ,plus 10/7 DB ,STP 10play JOB ,FPDW.

Please check VPFREE_RENO database on the Pepp.

Per the website, the $50 for 90-229 places is included in the $45K
(per the prize schedule; actual total prize pool comes to $45,250).
Dancer's correct in saying that the tournmament equity that you buy
into is $45K/300 = $150 vs. a non-adjusted buy-in of $199.

For myself, can't say that the difference is significant enough to
bias me toward or away from the event.

In a tournament such as this, it's important to recognize that
additional entrants may still dilute your equity. If they accomodate
more than 300 players by adding additional $50 "guaranteed win"
prizes, that reduces the average prize from the $150 above.
