XVP, security system to prevent theft

Someone mentioned installing a security system to protect my vehicle.? My car is a 2006 Ford Fusion and the Ford system actually works pretty well.? What is missing is glass breakage detection and/or a motion detector feature.?

Bottom line is that if I had put the laptop in my trunk instead of leaving it in view, the theft would have never occurred.? None of the other 15 cars in the lot were touched.? There was even a convertible with the top down and no motion detector parked 3 cars from me.??

I used to work in the vehicle security group at Delphi and we frequently looked at aftermarket systems.? There are a lot of issues with false triggers.? One more than one occassion, my factory key fob would set off an aftermarket alarm system.? Motion detection, vibration detection systems also have a large number of false reads.?

When I transport my laptop in the car and have to leave it there for
awhile, I use a computer cable lock to attach it to the vehicle. It's
not entirely burglar proof but it will slow someone doing a quick snatch.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Johnny.

My favorite security system is to: roll the windows down slightly,
put a bowl of dog food on the floor, and keep a Greman Shepherd in
the car.
