xvp - recommended Xmas shows in Vegas

We saw the Christmas Show at the Rio tonight and it was excellent. Jeff
Tracta (formerly in Soap Bold and the Beautiful) has an excellent singing voice.
The big surprise is that he is also a great comedian and does funny and
original skits as well as some impersonations and voices. The other cast members
were also excellent, ranging from accapella singers to acrobats (twins flying
over the stage on curtains) to dancers to soprano singer. The show is short at
just over 1 hour, and I wished it has been longer.

Comps to show obtainable through Harrahs points. If you are out of points and
have play you can TRY to get a host to comp. I talked to a host at the Rio
who couldn't "see" my play at Harrahs and told me no comp. A Harrahs host said
to go to the Rio. Another host at the Rio told me I was "overcomped" (at
Rio) until I finally got him to search for the Harrahs play, at which point he
comped 2 tix. Other Rio and Harrahs hosts failed to return several phone calls.
I don't know what the Rio and Harrahs hosts are doing - they are sloppy and
negligent. I have significant $1 play at Harrahs (it adds up when you are
playing triple and five play VP). Fortunately I used up all my points by "buying"
a Harrahs special Xmas gift with points. This is one way (and apparently the
only way) to get comps that don't take your points.

Other Xmas shows in town include Susan Anton at the Suncoast and Tony Orlando
("Me and Santa") at another casino (Orleans?). Anton has a great singing
voice, looks terrific, and has a lot of enthusiasm so her show is likely to be
good. Orlando is a great entertainer with lots of charisma and his show
probably has a lot of audience sing-a-long.

These special Christmas shows can be quite entertaining, and usually not too
expensive.
