XVP Re: Tipping

You misunderstood my post. I was not complaining about tipping anybody.
I was responding to the following comment.

"It often seems interesting to me that the cocktail waitress is content with a $1 tip while the change person is not content with a $5 tip."

OTOH, slot attendants can wear low heeled shoes, dress
in slacks and a shirt, and deal with (usually) happy
gamblers, who have just hit a jackpot; Cocktail waitress
at most casinos are required to wear very high heels, low
cut tops and mini skirts, while serving obnoxious drunks,
surly losers and the ever popular letches, who are peering
down her blouse. I really think that she deserves the very
nominal $1.00 tip that most gamblers bestow.

Sorry, Albert!

I did not mean to infer that you were against tipping CWs (or
anyone else). I was just trying to make the point that, though
slot attendants were tipped much less often than CWs, that I
believe their job is also much less stressful.

I apologize if my post seemed to indicate something else.

The high heels, low cut tops, and mini skirts may not be your prefered outfit. However, I'm sure most cocktail waitresses happily put up with wearing them as these things help drive the number and size of tips they get.

If given the choice of their current uniform or that of the one slot attendants wear at their casino, I suspect very few would make the switch.

I don't know. You ever seen the gals at
the Vegas Club? One told me a story about
babysitting FDR once. I think the flats
would be easier on her osteoporotic spine.

Correction: Albert Pearson did not post the quoted message. I did.

I doubt that Albert prefers to wear EITHER a slot attendant's
uniform or mini-skirts and high heels during his casino visits. {{O:

As to rest of your statement, I take issue with your conclusions.

I'm not sure how you've determined that CWs "happily" put up with wearing skimpy outfits in order to inspire more generous tipping from their customers.

While they may indeed wear that type of clothing because they believe it to be necessary in order to maximize their income, especially when dealing with drunks and leechers, I seriously
doubt that many of them actually enjoy the experience.

It is particularly demeaning to older CWs, who may no longer
possess physical attributes that are best showcased in revealing attire, but are often the very best at doing their job efficiently.

I certainly have not taken a survey of the work-dress preferences
amoung cocktail waitresses. I doubt that you have done so either.
Speaking as a woman, I am merely expressing an opinion of what I
THINK is the case.

I also believe that if some of the young and attractive CWs, who rely more on their outfits than their serving skills to promote larger tips, gave the same prompt and gracious service that many of the older, more experienced CWs have learned to provide, that there would be many less player complaints regarding poor cocktail service.
