(XVP) Question about Valley View Casino in California

We were out in the San Diego area this past summer and stayed at
Harrahs Rincon. Due to some comments here, we visited the Valley View
Casino for their buffet which was free for joining their slot club.
The buffet was really good and we'll be in the area again in a month
or so. Is the buffet still as good? Do they ever have discount
coupons (in newspapers, magazines, etc)?

We also thought that buffet was excellent the first time or two we had
it. The head chef was walking around talking to people and making sure
all the food was filled and telling people about the different dishes.
Haven't seen him since then.....
It is not as good the last few times we tried it. Pretty average buffet
food.
The lines to go to the players club and buffet were so ridiculous the
last time we were out there we didn't even use the card we get in the
mail every month for the buffet or $10 free play.....didn't want to
wait an hour for $10 or more than an hour for the buffet!!
If you are there midweek you may have better luck!

The line was long when we went also - waited about an hour. Did they still have the lobster and other seafood dishes when you last went?

I thought someone had mentioned that Valley View publishes coupons in some local papers to attract business. Anyone ever see them?

We have never tried to go to seafood night (fri or sat maybe?) as I
assume the line would even be longer!!
there always seems to be crab legs but I have not seen lobster.
We live in Orange County so I don't know about your local paper coupon
question.
We each get a mailed postcard thing each month that is good for either
one buffet or $10 freeplay so we always use that to eat
there.....except when the line is ridiculous as it has been the last 2
times there.

According to their web page, they have lobster and shrimp each night, plus prime rib, etc.

I've sent them an email with my question.

Southern California Gaming has some good news on these casinos. My question is, in their new non smoking casino section, is there multistrike, and if so, what pay tables? Thanks

The buffet is still good, although it's getting pricey. I for one
don't appreciate having to stand in line for over an hour just to
eat. If I were you, I'd go to the buffet during the week.

Have friends who have preferential seating but the wait
on the weekend was still incredibly long and so I bailed.

They tell me the buffet is great but hey, how much better
than the really great buffets in Vegas can it be.

I was there last Wednesday, arrived at the buffet nice and early
approx 4:15 PM. Line was incredibly long. Finally bailed after 45
mins. It would have taken at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get into the
buffet. Forget it!
