I've heard good things about Emerald, but their proces are not what I
would call reasonable. I checked their website for a four-week stay
covering parts of March and April, and the average daily rate was more
than $100! Yikes!
About four years ago I stayed three nights at the Budget Suites
location at Flamingo and Boulder. I had a one-bedroom suites, which
had separate bedroom and living room/kitchenette. The kitchen did NOT
have a microwave, but did have a standard oven, refrigerator and
full-size kithcen sink. The room was spartan but clean. The property
was nicer than expected, with two pools and three coin laundries, one
of them open 24/7. It's right next to Sam's Town and a 24-hour
Walgreen's, and a supermarket is across Boulder. You can use the
excellent Sam's Town shuttle bus system to get to downtown or the trip
for free.
The "transient element" is there to some extent -- it was obvious that
there were quite a few rooms being used for long-term stays. Several
had pets -- as I walked around the property, I noticed several cats
sitting in front windows, and even a couple outside -- one staring
intently at another cat in a window. I like cats, so I found this sort
of charming, but your mileage my vary.
Security was evident at all times. I saw security walking the property
at all hours of the day or night. This property is fairly large for
its type, with 15 or so separate buildings of three floors each.
Their website lists a weekly rate of $199 and monthly for $796 for a
one-bedroom suite.
Budget Suites does tend to have a bit of a negative reputation, but I
found this particular property to be pretty decent. I'd give it a shot.
