Some casinos offer "match play" or similar coupons when you sign up for
a players card, or senior days, or whatever. At the Northern Quest
casino (near Spokane Washington), each Tuesday is seniors day, and
everyone gets a Keno match play coupon. It's only good for one $2 bet,
or two $1 bets, but the payoff is twice the normal amount. Curious, I
ran the numbers through a Keno calculator with the EV results below:
06 spots: 137.5% (Variance = 1260.8)
07 spots: 129.69% (Variance = 2992.6)
08 spots: 135.67% (Variance = 7155.6)
09 spots: 136.05% (Variance = 4356.7)
10 spots: 136.83% (Variance = 3132.0)
These EV percentages are exactly twice the amount based on a normal
bet, as expected. But that's a high variance, so it's still a long
shot for each bet. Interestingly, for the 10 spot, only .6% of the EV
is attributed to getting 10 out of 10. The overall return is 125.23%
for 5-8 spots hit for a 10 spot bet.
