Playing downtown at the Plaza can be a pleasure. They are pretty liberal on comps and have some cashback too. New signups get extra bonuses, such as $25 food once you play 1700 ($1700) through.
A couple of hours of play on $1 VP and triple play VP earned me 3 nights room, $60 food, $20 cash, plus a couple of gifts from the funbook (received upon check-in). My friend played for hours on pennies with minimum bet and got about $70 or more in comps plus some cash.
Lombardi's Italian restaurant on 2nd floor is a real find with EXCELLENT service and cuisine. They have $9.99 specials every day which include items such as eggplant parmasean, linguini with clam sauce (and clams), spaghetti, shrimp scampi. These come with side of pasta and soup or salad. The soups are exceptionally good here. (really delicious) The salad came with a delicious rasberry vinagrette
with some fruit too. We had excellent fried mozzeralla and calamari appetizers. 3 of us ate a big meal for $60 including the extra
appetizers. Sodas had unlimited refills too.
Also they have a very good $7.77 plus tax buffet (all 3 meals). The decor is basic, and the selection limited, but the food was really good. Breakfast and lunch include various breakfast items like eggs, french toast, bacon, etc. Also for lunch and dinner they have several Chinese dishes which were excellent. The prime rib was really good, as were items like fish, soup, etc. Excellent value and delicious
food.
Plaza also has a THE RAT PACK IS BACK show at night (7:30pm). A dinner/show package is available. Rooms are basic (and we had 1 weird bed out of 2 in the room), and some areas of the hotel still need refurbishment, but it is a low-cost place if you need a room.
What impressed me were the amount of comps for play and the good, cheap food (especially Lombardi's).
