My host at Venetian says Phantom isn't doing too well. They are fooling
around with the times - like on Sat. show is 6pm and 9pm; on Friday 7pm. If you
book show try to get seats back at least 10 rows -- 1st couple rows are too
close to the stage. Ask a host to book it for you - they may comp it if you
ask!
If you are interested, probably try to see the show soon, since if it isn't
doing well it could go the way of Avenue Q (which was a great show by the
way!).
Phantom is excellent - great singers, good staging. They've shortened it a
bit and that is all to the good.
I'm seeing it for the 2nd time in Dec.
Host never blinked an eye when I asked about comp tix -- unlike at Harrah's
where equal or less play seems to get me not a lot!
Speaking of Venetian - if you play is high enough (over 500-750 pts a day
I'd guess..) ask host if you can be booked at RFB instead of just room. This
guarantees you free food instead of having to ask for individual comps. They
seem to have VERY heavy requirements for spa. With (to me) heavy play at $1
5-play DDB and $5 slots, I was told I couldn't get spa -- this probably due
to fact Venetian doesn't own spa. You can get comps for Tao and other
restaurants in the shop area - ask about those restaurants if you are being comped.
Presumably hosts can also comp you for Blue Man Group (I didn't ask about
that show so don't know how well it is doing -- probably not quite as good as
when it was at Luxor - after all time has passed).
