XVP PayPal Online Gambling Fraud

Just a warning to check your credit card account. I checked my account online today and found some strange charges. Someone created a PayPal account and somehow managed to tie my credit card to the account. There have been numerous charges to my credit card by PalPal for online gambling. Don't know how my card was compromised, but it is now cancelled.

I have been getting e-mails from "PayPal" saying they need to "check" my account and ask for all sorts of info. Funny thing, I don't have a PayPal account. This is a fraud that is circulating a lot recently.

I received about 20 such requests over 3-4 months.
They all LOOKED official, with appropriate logos, etc, and headings
such as:

  "WARNING - YOur Paypal Account is About to Expire".

They asked me to respond to one of the following addresses;

- accounts@paypal.com
- confirm@paypal.com
- management@paypal.com
- serviceupdate@paypal.com
- support@paypal.com

I didn't reply, but instead put them into a separate Yahoo folder.
Once I had enough, I went thru the folder one at a time, and clicked
on the Yahoo "This is Spam" button.

The phony messages immediately stopped. I subsequently discovered
that Yahoo's spam handler automatically added all of the sending
addresses to my list of Blocked names.

This one did have Brad's name in the e-mail (or, actually his e-mail address which has his name in it). But our clue was that we have never had a PayPal account.
