XVP: Observations re sale of LVH, GN et al

In the news recently are the reported sale of LVH & GN earlier.

Also on the block are the Reno Hilton &, I hope, Caesars Tahoe & Flamingo
Laughlin.

Whatever the short-term impact might be, I think the long-term impact will be
positive for the properties named above. That's because they all have
something in common -- They've been ignored by their parent companies & the employees
know it.

Some employees have trepidations about their tenure & loss of seniority which
is only natural. Others, after years of neglect, are ready for the changeover
& all the uncertainty that comes with it. I'd say these are the employees
that we want to stay as they look at their future jobs as opportunities instead
of sinecures.

What does all this mean for the player? I, for one, am looking forward to it.
I never did like the trip-average systems & hope to have some input on
changing it. I admit that I don't understand or comprehend the new systems yet but I
know that I've already made some mistakes due to my lack of understanding.
I'm going to lobby for a simple banking system that goes by points that we can
see instead of theoreticals. It would be nice if we could get a table of what
you get for the points played like they have at Silver Legacy in Reno.

Another change that I'd like to see are the promotions at the PPE-related
properties. Many promotions were drawing-based & rewarded with drawing tickets
those who were coupon-clippers, barflies, diners, in short anyone breathing.
There were many times as a player where I got less than people who were astute
enough to read the local paper & clip the coupon. Another problem with these
promotions is their ability to spread from one location to another. For instance,
Plinko might first appear in Laughlin, then it would go to Las Vegas &
finally end up in Reno. Next year, the cycle might start all over again. The
marketing director must have been a recycler from Waste Management.

In any event, changes are going to happen. Let's take a proactive approach by
identifying the key people who are going to stay & give them feedback as to
what will attract our business. Remember to use the Palms as the model of a
successful operation.

"Theoretically", I agree with all of the above. IOW, I also dislike
the trip-average point system and find "a table of what you get for
the points played" very helpful too.

However, while I'm sure(or at least hope, lol) that there's more than
one way to implement these improvements, the above would be an
accurate description of the changes recently made to the
Showboat/Harrahs "Total Rewards program(; they nixed their trip-
averaging and now have such a table you can reference). Yet nearly
everyone you could ask(if not everyone?), myself included, thinks
that the OLD program was significantly better(at least overall).

All of which probably only amounts to: "Be careful what you wish
for,...".

I don't know. I do know I will miss the ability of LVH, even if it remains a competitive property, to use the PPE comp catalog (Celine, Elton and miscellaneous headliners) to reward my mid level play.
