XVP...no income taxes

May be it's time to stop the regressive taxes and start taxing those who benefit the most. Those with wealth get far more in gov't services an dhave far more influence. First of all the gaming tax of 6.25% hasn't been adjusted in years. A small increase at the higher levels (i.e. over $100,000,000) to 7% would bring in a lot and still keep NV with an extremely low gaming tax. The sales tax should be eliminated for purchases under $50 and increased on large purchases (such as cars) by enough to compensate for no tax under $50 and enough to help narrow the deficit. Car registrations should be taxed at an added 1% as highway costs and traffic enforcement an dpolice costs are not covered by the motorists as they should be. Finally, Any income that is exempt from Federal income tax duebeing earned by wealth (such as dividends and capital gains) should be taxed at a minimum rate adjusted for inflation and to be equal to the average federal tax rate.

A big piece of the revenue is also the tax they collect from the casinos (at
least here in Nevada). But that is NOT more than enough money. There's a
huge shortage in the budget (this year and next) and huge cutbacks are
coming up. One thing that I don't understand at all is why they keep water
so cheap here in the desert. Especially with Lake Mead down 70ft. Putting on
a tax that triples the price would bring in much needed revenue and maybe
get some people to finally conserve!

Hello,

My thought is that the state sales tax, gasoline tax, property tax, and
local tax, all generate more thean enough money to fund all of their
programs.

If all goes as planned we'll be purchasing a snowbird property in Bullhead

City, across the river from Laughlin.

The Vegas cost of living was recently discussed in a very positive
light...one thing that I've always wondered is how do the states without
income taxes( NV,AZ,FL, etc) pay for government, programs and
  infrastructure?

What I'd like to find out is what kind of surprises am I in store
for...the
only one I've learned of so far is car registrations.

  Any insight is appreciated

Did I hear you right?? Those WITH wealth USE far more
government services? Oh yeah thats right...most of
them supplement their wealth with Medicare and
welfare. You need to do a little reading and alot less
listening to people who say the wealthy are
undertaxed. The top 1% of earners pay over 33% of all
federal income taxes and the top 5% pay over 55%.
Why not make them pay 80%? Its not like they earned
it or anything...we may as well steal it from them and
give it to those less fortunate right?
I am NOT in the top 5% of earners yet I think they
carry far too much of our tax burden.Everyone should
pay the SAME percentage of their income regardless of
how much you earn...those who make more pay more(based
on percentage) and those who make less pay less.
