XVP...no income taxes

If all goes as planned we'll be purchasing a snowbird property in Bullhead City, across the river from Laughlin.

The Vegas cost of living was recently discussed in a very positive light...one thing that I've always wondered is how do the states without income taxes( NV,AZ,FL, etc) pay for government, programs and infrastructure?

What I'd like to find out is what kind of surprises am I in store for...the only one I've learned of so far is car registrations.

Any insight is appreciated

Hello,

My thought is that the state sales tax, gasoline tax, property tax, and local tax, all generate more thean enough money to fund all of their programs.

AZ DOES have income taxes. Cost of living in Bullhead is less than in
Laughlin.

A big piece of the revenue is also the tax they collect from the casinos (at
least here in Nevada). But that is NOT more than enough money. There's a
huge shortage in the budget (this year and next) and huge cutbacks are
coming up. One thing that I don't understand at all is why they keep water
so cheap here in the desert. Especially with Lake Mead down 70ft. Putting on
a tax that triples the price would bring in much needed revenue and maybe
get some people to finally conserve!

Before you buy that house in Arizona, make sure there isn't an income
tax (or at least one that you can live with). According to this site
Arizona has an income tax.

As Elliott pointed out, we in Arizona have an income tax that's highly variable depending on your circumstances. Property taxes are a little more than in Nevada. Neither is really significant. What IS high is car insurance--due to the border with Mexico.
