I would recomment AOL subscribers upgrade to newest version 9.0. There are
some major improvements in the spam dept. You can now insert words that will
trigger mail to be identified as spam, such as mortgage, viagra, etc. AOL seems
to also be automatically detecting other material as spam and is generally
correct (though some is not). You then go to the "Manage Your Mail" subsection
of your mail and you can see all the spam that has been segregated together.
You can retreive any mail that has accidentally gotten there that is not spam,
and then "delete all". You can also "report spam" more easily via that button
if some spam does show up in your mail box. The combination of all this
seems to have reduced spam in general and helped me manage spam a lot more easily
to quickly delete it as a group.
You can download version 9.0 or order a CD for it. Once you install it your
older version of AOL will remain on your computer until you manually uninstall
it (to prevent any problems). When you upgrade all your email and saved
files, etc., are automatically transferred.
AOL 9.0 has some other nice new features as well.

By the way the reason I decided to stick with AOL rather than another service
is that I think AOL is here to stay, and I previously had problems with
services that went out of business. Although support is tricky and AOL has some
problems, it does have many good points as well.
Oh also the new version 9.0 seems to have solved some "bug" problems that
were causing my computer to occasionally crash with version 8.0.
