XVP: Matzah on the strip?

Does anyone know of any restaurants that serve matzah during Passover? (At
this point, I'm wondering about any restaurants in the valley - not just the
strip...)

I cant' state with certainty but I definitely have seen matzo at buffets.
Maybe if you phone the buffet they can tell you?

Thanks Karen,

Between my husband and I, we made about 8-10 phone calls yesterday before throwing in the towel (which is part of what led to this post). I remember a few years ago, I brought a box of matzah into the Sam's Town buffet. Someone saw it on my table, got excited, pointed to the box and asked the server for some. The server's answer was, "we don't serve the Jewish crackers here -- she brought those in for herself."

It just gets tiresome to have to shlep a box of matzah with me, and frankly, I don't know what to do with it while I'm playing. I don't like the idea of putting it on the floor, and my lap is reserved for my purse. Since I try to always play slant-tops, there's no room between the machines. All told, it would just be a lot easier if they served matzah in the restaurants.

Hi Lainie,

I'm shocked!! In this day of political correctness, for Sam's Town to
discriminate against only JEWISH crackers is unbelievable!......Or are
they equally unfriendly to ALL denizens of certain south-eastern areas
in the US? (-:

-Babe-

P.S. Why not break a couple of large Matzo sheets into smaller pieces,
wrap them in a plastic baggie, and put them in your purse?

I been a dang ole Sam's town player for a good stretch and I'm purty sure they love crackers of every persuasion.

Hi Babe,

I wasn't offended by the server's statement -- it was said in ignorance, not as a slight of any kind. She just didn't know the correct name for matzot, which is OK. (There's lots of stuff that I don't know about others' religious practices, so I can't expect others to know about mine...)

As for carrying matzah in my purse, when I go out to play, I carry a small purse, which doesn't have room for anything more than its typical contents. But, that's not the point. The point is that it's not difficult (or expensive) to accommodate some players, who might really be appreciative of the property's efforts.

I didn't mean to make a big megila over this <g> -- I just wanted to find out if there were some places where I could go to eat.

Since it seems that "Stations" is the only group of casinos that serves matzah and I don't play there, I'll just do what I've been doing, which is eating at home this week.

  Best,
  Lainie

You mean you have to eat the matzo for religious purposes and it's ok to
gamble while you do it? Cool religion!

Scot

Scot, cute joke -- but in all seriousness, other than on the first and last two days of the holiday, the only Passover restrictions are on foods eaten. During the interim days, you're allowed to work, use money, drive and perform all of your "regular" activities. Lainie
