XVP long haul taxi form

Before renting cars when staying on the strip ala Ballys and even Rio, we would always get into the cab and immediately tell them how to go.

Most of the time they didn't like it and were generally surprised that tourists knew where to go. Many times us telling them where to go would lead to a question of "you locals?"

I get a kick out of this subject. You go to Vegas and most probably
lose all kinds of money, pay rediculous prices for food and goods

and

worry about a couple of bucks for a taxi ride.

I think people resent that the cab driver is choosing the more
expensive option for them without a discussion. In many cases the
person might actually want a quicker though more costly route.

After leaving a concert at Mandalay Bay one night a cab driver
actually got on the freeway to take us back to the Flamingo. I didn't
get into a heated exchange, I simply didn't tip.

As always, suggesting a preferred route at the beginning of the ride,
i.e. "take the Strip, use Harmon, Swenson please" or whatever will
prevent arguments at the end.
