XVP long haul taxi form

I get a kick out of this subject. You go to Vegas and most probably lose all kinds of money, pay rediculous prices for food and goods and worry about a couple of bucks for a taxi ride.

Anyone know the distance from McCarran to the Plaza (via the tunnel and the 15 North)? Approx cost by cab?

Certainly easier, often quicker, to take the tunnel. But distance matters
when in a taxi, and my best guess is that it is about four miles farther taking
the tunnel, at least to destinations north of Tropicana. The extra mileage
cost may be partially offset by some waiting time on the surface streets, but
unless the streets are jammed, the tunnel is going to be substantially more
expensive.

I think people resent that the cab driver is choosing the more
expensive option for them without a discussion. In many cases the
person might actually want a quicker though more costly route.

After leaving a concert at Mandalay Bay one night a cab driver
actually got on the freeway to take us back to the Flamingo. I didn't
get into a heated exchange, I simply didn't tip.

As always, suggesting a preferred route at the beginning of the ride,
i.e. "take the Strip, use Harmon, Swenson please" or whatever will
prevent arguments at the end.

It is not a couple of bucks. You are charged $3.30 to get in a taxi, $30 waiting time per hour in increments of time, $2.65 a mile and hope you are taken the long way. Fromt he airport the taxis are notirous for taking the long way through the tunnel.
