XVP: Live Poker Announcements

I am starting to get weary of them announcing that there is a seat
available for the live poker over and over every few minutes at
different Casino's, it gets old. It also strikes me as odd, why do
they need to do that endlessly, the live poker players are a very
small segment of the overall gamblers. When you look around the
casino you see VP players and BJ players, craps players and slot
players, and others who all managed to find their way the appropriate
place and all without the help of a noisy carnival barker telling
them every three minutes. Those gamblers that are interested in live
poker could find their way to the poker room just like everyone else
does for their things. Even if they limited it to just calling
people to their table like "Mike your seven card stud seat is
available" they would be reminding everyone that live poker is an
option, and if it were that brief and unintrusive I wouldn't mind
hearing it. One thing that has always amazed me is do the Casino
mgmt actually want to lure gamblers away from other areas and into
the poker room? Practically anything else they would be doing would
be more profitable for the house than that. They have these noisy
irritating carnival barkers trying to lure people into the area that
is the least profitable for the Casino. Plus I would think that the
people who work on the Casino floor would get sick of the noise
pollution as well. M

Although I'm a poker player I agree with you! We played about 5 or 6
days at the Santa Fe Station this past June/July and the announcements
were VERY anoying. It sounded like the paging system at Wal-Mart!!
