Just saw Legends again at Harrahs (it moved from Imperial Palace). The show
is pretty much the same, with some slight changes in staging. I think the
stage itself may be a bit smaller than at the IP. They've got a new slate of
impersonators, and they are very good: Leno as host, Garth Brooks, the
Temptations, Whitney Houston, and of course Elvis. Elvis is the same one I saw
last time, very good sound-alike and high energy. The dancers and excellent
band really make the show come together - they are really good. Definitely an
enjoyable show and worth seeing. The cast changes every few months, so even
if you have seen Legends before, you can go again. In fact, they are so
good, if you see the same people again you would enjoy it. Time is 7:30
Tues-Sun, they may also have a late show.
Also had free tickets for The Price is Right at Ballys. This afternoon show
is at 2:30pm (I believe daily except Mon). If you want to be a contestant,
everyone does, register at the door before the show, or when you buy the
ticket from the box office. They give away about 50 prizes, so my guess is you
probably have about a 1-10 or a bit higher shot at a prize. Unfortunately
many of the prizes are very low value. They gave out about 20 "1000 Total
Reward Credits" - which is only worth $10. (So have a card with you when you
go.). Anyone called up to play will get at least a t-shirt. Most of the items
being bid for are low value - $150-300. Two contestants won with bids of $1,
so don't bid too high. A couple people won a couple of hundred in cash.
People are randomly chosen, so it doesn't matter where you sit or what
you do. Some of the games are tricky (did you know pickle snacks were worth
more than pizza rolls?), so most contestants did not win the larger prizes.
One guy did with about $1000 worth of prizes (air hockey table and stuff) in
the show we went to. Two people are randomly chosen for the final big
showcase, which does feature a car. But you don't win the final showcase unless
you are within $100 of the actual price (about $17850 on the showcase we saw).
If you don't get the exact amount, you win a 4 night cruise to Mexico -
not exactly a huge prize. Remember if you should win on something like this,
you'll have to pay taxes, so in some cases should you win, you might want to
refuse the prize or some of the prize, if it isn't something you want.
As for the entertainment value - it was somewhat entertaining. There
are some jokes, and the best is you get to see some clips of the funniest
moments of the TV show. If you are a Price is Right addict, you'll love the live
version. If you could care less, it is still mildly entertaining.
Still, I have my doubts that it is worth paying for a ticket. A better
bet would be to take the $50 or whatever the show costs and put it on a
number at roulette. That would give you a 1 in 35 chance at hitting $1750 in
cash, instead of a 1 in 10 chance for $10. On the other hand, if you get a free
ticket, it is mildly amusing and you might win one of the better prizes.
